Attended Maryland Sheep and Wool last weekend and stopped by the Going Gnome booth. While I was in line waiting to make my purchase, I said to my friend, "I blame Ray." Ray, put a locking stitch marker in your live crochet loop to prevent pulling out stitches when you put your project away. I learned to crochet decades before learning to knit. Crochet charts made more sense because the symbol always means the same stitch, unlike knitting where symbols can change depending on which side of the work you are on.

Another great episode. That shawl with the crochet work is beautiful. And the Granny style blanket with your minis. Very special with your colors! And both your Jelly Rolls. I want to make a blanket like the one I have which is one huge Granny Square. I have lots of leftover acrylics from tea cosies and hats. Cute Alberts! Love your bears. If you are at all interested in charity knitting (or your followers are) there is a great pattern from The Mother Bear Project. It is an outreach program for children of HIV/AIDS. Comes in knit or crochet. The pattern is super simple, and they ask that you don’t change it (but you can add a scarf or bow or something). It is heartwarming when they post on IG and it’s YOUR BEAR being given to a child. So sweet.

I've knitted and crochet toys for 36 years. The more wonky the more the child loves the toy... I never worry if I don't get it right as per the pattern every time. Working in the round can be a little confusing......Great work Kevin.

Great WIPs! I too find my crochet gauge changes with different brands of hooks. I try to use the same hook throughout a crochet project. I use Lion Brand Mandala frequently and haven’t noticed it sticking to my hooks or needles. It may be because I’m used to using acrylic yarn, or it may be because I use wooden hooks and needles which are probably stickier anyway. 😊

I’m sitting here watching your podcast while I’m working on my Jethro Cardigan! I also saw it on the Grocery Girls. I love that it’s both knit and crochet. I’m also thinking of adding an extra row of granny squares to mine too. I highly recommend this cardigan. The pattern is so well written! I made the 14 color shawl so I had a lot of yarn left over so I’m using that for my granny squares. I just needed to buy the main color. I’m using Woolstok Light held double. Love it!

Ray, I’m thinking that before you put the pieces of your Dad’s sweater together, you might want to soak and block the pieces individually makings sure that all are according to the schematic measurements. I think you will prevent the curling on the edges and all will lie flat allowing for the seaming to go more smoothly.

Hi guys!!! Wow, another 2 weeks flew by!!!! I worked the thin gold line for 32 years, you NEVER said that evil "Q" word!!!! S*** would hit the fan!!! I'm retired now (5 years 😳), I miss it, but I don't miss it. I've been bistitchual since I was about 5-6 yrs old, I STILL can't crochet & watch TV... knitting?? Piece of cake!! I'm doing the Romi Hill MKAL & not missing a stitch (even when watching OnPatrol:Live 😉). I've also noticed that I have more hand & wrist pain crocheting than knitting. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I remember taking my scale with me on a vacation (because I am the yarn chicken Queen!! It helps!), one of the friends I was staying with asked in all seriousness why I had a drug scale!! Can you guess what line of work he used to be in!? 🤣😂🤣😂 Honestly (and DEFINITELY speaking from experience) 9-1-1 only moderately close. 😉 The stories i could tell......... Have an amazing fortnight!!! Hopefully we'll all have FO's to talk about. 😁

the best patterns have both words and charts.... Learning how to read a chart opens up the whole world of patterns, even those in other languages other than English. I always get excited when my students start to use charts. Your shawl looks great.
