Awe, thank you for taking us with you on this treasure dive. 🙂I can relate completely. I have a lot of inherited crafts, finished, half finished and some even untouched. Embroidery, hooked ruggs, crossstitch, even started sewing projects. My mom was a seemstress too. She had heaps of things she left me, when she passed in 2014. My second husband, who also passed in 2014 was a crafter too. He, like your brother, loved feminine embroidery as well. He stitched, sewed and embroidered, he made jewelry and he crafted historical replicas such as swords, shafts for swords, knifes and cuttlery. He made shields and carved needles for naalbinding from bone. He made beautiful robe clasps (fibulas) and rings, and he also did bead embroidery. My house is filled with treasure from all the years passed. I was given a lot of things by all kinds of people. Sometimes I think I am a kind of passed treasure keeper 🙂And those treasures tell so many stories. Don`t they! I have writen my first books, children`s books, about quilting and I wrote a little book of poetry, also featuring my quilts and wallhangings. Then I wrote my novel /fanatsy/fairy tale, in 2015. I also published a scientific piece about wool and it`s history. 🙂It feels wonderful to have found a kindred spirit, dear "Knitty Professor" 🙂. I really enjoy your videos and your personality. It is so refreshing and fun and sane. 🙂Huggs from a semi cold ( 9° Celsius) Schurwald, Germany, where we had a spektacular sunrise with an orange and red sky, gleaming over forest.

What a wonderful box of treasures you have! My favorite is the one you think your mother did that looks like stacked blocks. I made baby dresses out of a couple of embroidered table runners for my daughter.

Your video had such an impact on me as it became apparent how much our backgrounds influence how we view everything even down to inherited objects. Coming from such a dysfunctional past I was so touched and envious when you described your feelings of how your brother comes to life when you touch what he was working on. However we have it in our power to alter the future and I know my four children will treasure my knitting especially the intricate knitted toys I’ve made. You are such a delight to listen to whatever the subject and I always appreciate the positivity that radiates from you - thank you!🧶🪡🧵
