This thing offends musclecar enthusiasts because it’s pretending to be something it isn’t; it’s inauthentic. Performance EV enthusiasts are offended by this thing because it’s trying very hard to be an ICE musclecar (which is not the experience persons seeking performance EV’s are looking for at all), so also inauthentic.) The noise maker seems to turn off both camps- muscle cars need to make real noise, and EV’s shouldn’t be making any noise except for electrical hums if you’re really leaning on one. By building a car that has to be BOTH EV, or ICE, they’ve built a horribly compromised version of both. It’s WAY too heavy simply because it has to do both, and isn’t really a good EV simply from space utilization (that front trunk is laughably tiny) all the way thru efficiency(another important metric EV customers look at). It needed to be built as either a ground-up ICE vehicle, or a ground-up EV, leveraging the advantages of either platform. Who is this car for??? Head scratcher for sure. I’ll eat my words if Dodge pulls a Tesla Model Y and starts selling a butt-load of Charger Daytonas, but I really think Hell would freeze over first..

@@TheStraightPipesand that’s stellantis fault for not having a well rounded vehicle portfolio. When you make 18 billion in net profit a year for the past 5 years you can’t say you don’t have the money to invest in product. This company was more interested in buying back stock and shareholder dividends than say engineering a new modern V8. So in the end stop blaming the gov as other companies had no problem investing in their futures

Dodge should sell the new Hellcats without an engine, sell the engine separately and have a third party mechanic put it together for the buyer, that's how you get around regulation.

As a Tesla owner who also loves Dodge ( had a Charger ), I absolutely love the design of this one! But I don't think they should have discontinued the v8 fully. At least give people options. I also don't get why they literally added a speaker for noise. Just embrace the fact that it's an EV instead of trying to be something it's not. 🤷🏼♂️

Exactly. And that speaker, I don't care what 'glorified' name they're calling it, it's a speaker, just makes it worse.
