I remember when I have been there, Got all the fundamentals, yet, when I copy the people, I want to learn, it looks shitty, Then after additional 2 to 4 hours, on every 20 minutes, I finally got result. it was very very annoying, like the full tutorial is 15 minute, and I with all my knowledge spend at least 2 hours to get it 80% similar to them. It just like chess, after playing so many times, I don't think a lot, I just play the right move in 2 seconds, so those artists, they don't really think where to paint or to draw lines, they just do it and it magically fits.
@tinyspyro81634 жыл бұрын
You don't need art schools or any professional training - just tons of practice :) it mostly comes down to trial and error - experimenting and zooming in and out a LOT to see what looks good.

@M0tt0ri5 жыл бұрын
@@vethir Haha well, even if you progressively merge the layers for work each paint shape (Mireys do it a lot) I think you will keep at least the background layer..! Specially if the artwork has a lot of effects, blur and details like this. Also separated elements may be used for responsive-design later! I thinking merging the layers is useful with the realistic-material-digital-paint style, where you should handle all the figure-ground, just like a real painting. This artwork is purely digital style and has digital needs ^ ^
@CytheriaXylia5 жыл бұрын
@@M0tt0ri Depends on the artist. I have a lot of different painting styles, but I still mainly paint on one layer, with the exception of a seperate layer for my sketch and the rough base colors which I do underneath the the sketch but then merge together quickly after and then continue painting on that one layer until I'm finished. Any layers I create after I've merged the initial two are simply copied layers of my current one so I can keep track of my progress to make progress gifs later. Doesn't matter what I'm painting, or in which style I'm painting it, this is always my process. It's more down to personal preference than anything. Some people prefer many layers, but some people prefer to just keep it simple.

Holy fuck, this is talent! In the beginning, I was moderately impressed by watching the Photoshop work. This, coming from someone who's worked 10+ years doing photo-manipulation and advanced retouching jobs where I'd constantly be masking out objects and people, redrawing bodyparts, adding things back in and relighting/texturing to match, etc. After he threw it in spine works I figured he'd add in some minor motion but holy crap he was intensely rigging and animating each and everything very meticulously for quite some time. I skipped to the end in anticipation wanting to see the end result. Jeez, Not only was the animation expertly done and far exceeding what I'd thought possible for a still image. He went above and beyond with particles, light rays, shadows, the awesome butterfly movement, and natural blinking. I feel like this process could've really captured what the initial artist imagined. Wow, this could be an Advertisement for the Software used and this guy's career. I'm sold on it already. That was expertly done.

Nah. I can always remember the order of everything. It makes all sense to me without naming every layer when I work, but if you share a project with others: PLEASE NAME THE FRICKIN LAYERS OKAY
@ViktorsJournal5 жыл бұрын
@@JustNatax3 I envy you. When I have 100 layers or even more I have no idea what is where, I have such a tight folder + naming structure to be sure I don't accumulate hours of just looking for what is where. Honestly I have trouble even with a few tens of layers without names, just imagining opening such a file days/weeks/months later and seeing no names frightens me. How do you keep all that information in your head for so long, is it photographic memory?
@JustNatax35 жыл бұрын
@@ViktorsJournal Oh come on, I do folders too... but I usually don't struggle with maybe 50 layers without naming and folders...? Maybe more? I never thought about it tbh. Hmm.. I kinda build a tiny relationship with every layer and usually know the structure and whereabouts. Maybe I am just too lazy to name amd folder everything and that's why I mentally keep track. I just know where everything is. Now that I think about it: I took part in a memory test series at a research lab at my university a few months ago, the ones where you get a minute to memorize as many pictures on a grid as possible, including their orders. I did the best in my test group of 30 people, meaning I also got paid the best for participating. Take from that what you will: But for what I can do in that area, I can't do with other areas of thinking. Dealing with mathematical problems for example... I have always been terrible at that. I am just pissed when people send me their stuff over to do something and it's not all well kept documented lol if you work on your own, you can do whatever, ... In the end you'd be the best group partner to have and I'd be the worst, unless I put some effort in. lol sorry for my bad English, I'm soo tired and ironically can't think of good vocabulary rn...

Not going to lie I learned a ton from watching this, you separated each part you were going to animate. Fixed each of the pieces by painting on them, so they can be rigged. Then you rigged the pieces to the animation that it is now. I must say that's pretty smart.

Now... imagine the cinematics. Even more work I think. It's quite intimidating to think about.
@Phoenixfeather1005 жыл бұрын
@@gadgetboyplaysmc I think animating a splash without the layers giving to you is only slightly less harder as making the cinematics. Once you have a full 3d Model, it's a lot less harder to worry about blocking of certain parts. It takes longer, sure, but once you have the models ready it's far easier and more flexible to work around 3d models. Animating a 2D image, specially one from an already flat image (not layered), is specially taxing when you have to thinking about "what was that arm blocking in the background?" or "is this part of the clothing plain or did it have decorations on it underneath the hand". Also, there's tons of 3D models online that are almost ready to go for your environment. I think 3D models are harder only because of the time you need to put into one model, but once you make the model, you don't have to redo the model with every single frame - you just have to move it around. With 2D animation, unless it's an animation with lot relatively static pose like this (Neeko moves, but her pose is relatively the same), every frame has to be redrawn. If the body turns a 180 degrees, you have to redraw the for all the frames that it's turning; the higher the framerate, the more times you'll have to redraw it. With 3D models, you need to only move the camera, or move the object itself to perceive it as "turning". That's it, you don't have to redraw it everytime, and you can just choose any framerate you want.
