I am with Neel in that I love everyone in this squad is not assholes and are great to each other. The sauna scene earlier solidified it lol. But even our girl Kikoru being involved with them is great. Her and that axe do totally fit, I'm 100 with Reno on that. Not everybody can use a special weapon. Only a very limited number of characters can actually use the powers contained in special weapons, largely based on their ability to release their powers (eg. an officer who can only release 20%-30% of their power cannot use one). The special numbered weapons made from numbered Kaiju are even more restrictive. So, in Shinomiya's hands, the axe is basically a gravity hammer from Halo, but a normal officer's body wouldn't be able to handle the strain of using it. Also, the reason Reno's freezing ammo is working so well is because his combat power is rising too.

I don't know why everyone in the anime is raving about Mina when her main skill is shooting bombs. She could be replaced by a machine. Hoshina and his hand-to-hand combat are much more impressive😅

You do realize not everyone is melee combat type. There will always be classifications like range and melee types. Minas main skill is shooting so she is obviously a ranger type and blasting colossal type kaijus are her forte. Her aoe damage and ap is top notch even compared to the other divisions. But it doesn't mean she slacks in close quarters. Those suits grants them above human level strenght so she can definitely still hold her own in fights against smaller kaijus, however if she gets to shoot them with her guns they are good as dead because her unleashed combat power is very high and using her huge railgun is instakill. swords are not her forte, that's where hoshina excels at. He is proficient in close quarters and the precision of his attacks are very fatal and yet that doesn't mean he can't shoot using a gun as well. He still can and his power output is very much close to mina so he could still overpower any small kaijus with guns.. He is not however fond of guns and prefers blades since he finds it more fun when fighting plus he is from a prominent clan with a swordstyle that is being passed on to generations So yeah there's that. But if hoshina were to fight colossal type kaijus the size of buildings or a city he would have trouble killing it due to it's size and finding it's core is a problem. He won't do shit against giant kaijus. he would be exhausted by then and overheat. Same goes for mina, if she were to fight daikaijus of kafkas level that are very good in close quarters she would struggle and always keep her distance and shoot since she is not trained in melee combat like swords or other weapons. Give her a sword or axe she could still probably manage but not hoshina level. If you look at mina, hoshina and kikoru you see their class are a ranger, assassin and berserker/barbarian in rpgs just going by their weapons. There's a good balance of characters with variety of skills which you'll see soon and not everyone is levy/mikasa type sh*t swinging blades. And just to add, Minas power even with their current tech cannot be replicated. Her raw power is never before seen in this verse as mentioned in the previous episode.. They're in an era where technology is advance and yet they don't have that kind of power that can damage/kill colossal honjus or daikaijus with a single shot. Which is why she is an asset to the entire force. It's like humans throwing atomic bombs in godzillas face. Have you not seen them shooting missiles against that giant mushroom kaiju? It didn't even scratch it until mina blew a hole through it. But I get you hoshina is indeed cool. Most people prefer melee than range type chracters coz they look boring when it comes to fight scenes. Swordfights or hand to hand combat looks cooler especially when animated.

Machines cant replace mina, the power can only be released by a LIVING organism. Somebody HAS TO shoot that gun, and depending on how much they are able to release they get better results. A machine would do jack shit here, its not alive and can't release ANY power. THATS WHY they are raving about Mina, its because of HER insane release that those shots even DO ANYTHING AT ALL.
