When they mentioned five years ago, what they meant was a daikaiju-fortitude 8 or higher-not that the kaiju was like No. 8 in appearance or attacks. It’s pretty rare for kaiju to be that high in fortitude. (Or at least it used to be…)

23:56 They didn't mean that as in someone like Kafka showing up 5 years ago, they meant the last time a Daikaiju showed up was 5 years ago. A Daikaiju is just any kaiju with a fortitude rating higher then 8, the type does not mater.

Captains and Vice Captains at full power are excessively strong. They don't need to go all out for the lesser kaiju. Imagine if every shot of Mina's gun was as powerful as the ones she used to take the giant one down. And for the record, even a pistol is a cannon in her hands. That's one reason they limit themselves. They'd destroy what they are trying to protect going all out.

Yeah, the last kaiju close to his Fortitude was Kaiju No 6, dubbed the King of Kaiju. Fortitude 9.6.
