Man working in the restaurant business has got to be one of the worst jobs you can possibly have. That's like working a retail job dealing with shitty customers while at the same time waking up at 4 am to do some food prep, working all day long for 15 hours doing manual labor, and then coming home all greasy with burn marks all day everyday. I never watched the anime for food wars, but in the manga, the reactions get a lot tamer and more stylistic with time. In the start, sure, it was a ecchi gimmic to atract people, but after a few arcs it's very different.
