I might be mistaken, but i think when kirito transformed into the gleam eyes, that was the first time since we cleared Aincrad that we heard the OST "swordland". It really encapsulates the feeling of "yep. This is a boss battle"

The problem is, the Illusion Magic in the game transforms your shape into that of a monster... what monster it is, is determined by your stats. Now recall, that all progression in this game is done by levelling _skills,_ not stats. Everyone in this game, even the highest ranked players, all have basic level 1 stats compared to Kirito coming in with his level 90+ SAO stats. That's why Kirito turned into the Gleam Eyes. The Illusion Magic doesn't change your stats or abilities at all... only your shape, and in this case, your size.

Even if everyone has the same level like you say. The fact that these monsters are bigger and heck can even use the magic of the monster... And you cant say kirito has high level magic because theres no freakin magic in SAO.. Imagine bosses that has giant ass weapons.... like for example the 1st floor boss or the one with the giant ass scythe that yui deleted.. that alone is a range advantage
