Me and my mother in law very friendly for almost 15 years, but when there is an issue, she took her daughter's side and ditched her own son, my hubby very badly.. after 15 years living with her like my own mom in a joint family, i realised that mother in law can't be our mother at any point.. it's a myth.. till situation dint arise, they will behave good, but when there is a situation they will definitely become mamiyar.. infact they see their own son as daughter in law's husband.. and treat them differently compared to their daughter..

Though being educates unable to raise voice against these sister in law's... Finally mil mom expired in 2019 and for her rituals my mil just like that spilled words as to serve for my mother only we got married to my son.... Fm there i to my charge to back fire her.. now after 3 yrs I am living peacefully..

I have a genuine request that there should be a channel/ ability to provide valid feedback especially for socially relevant shows such as Neeya Naana. This would bring about an intelligent discussion on how viewers view the show and provide feedback. Given that the show has risen to a significant viewing audience, it's responsibility in providing both sides is equally important. To those that came on this show, apart from all the cliche'd marumagal- maamiyar discussion, I would like to genuinely ask them how differently do they expect their grand-daughter to be raised? In the kitchen, learning cooking while she's 10, since she needs to cook anyway. When do men take equal responsibility in the household? Do they ever expect women to ever achieve equality in society? Clearly, that doesn't seem to be the case at home. In the first twenty minutes itself, I saw several instances of both sides mother-in-laws refer to their son, their husband, but rarely ever consider the daughter-in-law as family. Are they truly your family at all? I think the tradition of Indian "marriages" seems to bring a huge sense of entitlement (on several people in different families) to think that a new relationship can be based on demands. Yes demands, those that were given were not "advise". Because you provide no option to the receiving end to accept/reject the advise.

I don't justify what the elderly woman did. But boys usually get carried away with their wives & 99% of the wives takes advantage of this & fill their ears about their in laws & create a kind of hatred for their folks & extreme affection for their own people. Can you deny this ? It is to balance this that mils fill their son's ears things about their dils. So one wrong gives birth to another wrong. We are living in Kali yugam & not sathya yugam. We are living in a world where people are always tempted to do evil against their fellow beings. No use blaming one side alone. You have to see both the sides. It is a 'kill or you'll be killed' kind of world that we are living in.

Even if that happens, I expect the mother-in-law to be mature and handle the situation in a way that can resolve the problem or friction between them. That is why she has the M-I-L stature, I expect her to be mature. Being open, honest, and problem solving vs building pressure on the son by adding negative thoughts - which would a mature lady pick? There is no first & second. This is a family & not a running race. The son should give equal importance to the feelings of both the ladies & behave in a 'matured' fashion instead of going to the side of whoever pulls him. This is what causes insecurity in the family.
