dude the quality of your photos compared to the quality of that drawing of the bike on the hill is just hilarious 😂

Yeah, I feel you on the whole taking photos of where you grew up is hard. It's not easy finding anything you consider interesting in a place you spent a few decades in. Unfortunately for me, I cam to the realization that there are a few good images to be found where I grew up only after the entire town was burned down in a massive forest fire. So I'm kicking myself over that. I'm not making the same mistake where I now live. But It makes the images I do find of my old home that more meaningful to me. Keep up the good work George. Cheers, -Shane

Hey George, could you do a video talking about where/who you draw inspiration from and how it has impacted your work? asking for a friend

Let us know when you're in Hatfield or planning to! As a photography student at Uni of Hertfordshire, would love to see you give a talk about your work and think it will be a huge inspiration to the course and all years!!

Thnaks for this great video. I've got an slight problem here... Someone lent me a 8x10 Sinar P. I have everything to shoot sheets and process them in my lab but I can't make up my mind. I want to find a real good subject for my first 8x10 sheet...Everything i'm thinking of seems worthless therefore i'm stucked... Any advice ?
@NegativeFeedback5 жыл бұрын
I think it all becomes a lot easier once you've taken the first sheet and "broken the seal", just get it out of the way, because chances are it wont be your best, and you can take it from there to learn from your mistakes
@Fujicator5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your answer, I will follow your advice and take a silly 8x10 self portrait as a starter to this new playground I'm now reaching after having practised 4x5 and 5x7 for years. You're right, let's break the seal and have fun at the same time ! 👌

hey man, just a thought on dusting: if you resize your image to the size of your print, you shouldn't have to dust at 300% as these things will be too small to see, that way you'll save yourself loads of time!

Awesome video as always. Have two questions for you. Going to London for a week in March. Any recommendations for cool shops, museums, or things to see? The second question is I am looking for a medium format camera for a beginner. I've been shooting on my 35mm point and shoot for a year now and am ready to try something new! Any recommendations?
@MarkJamesAdams5 жыл бұрын
Fujifilm GA645 is a point-and-shoot medium format camera. If you are OK with something more manual, a Yashica Mat or Zenza Bronica SQ are usually good entry points into medium format because they are more affordable than other options.

any particular reason for an f45 shot for such close subject?
@NegativeFeedback5 жыл бұрын
When you're closer the depth of field is more shallow, so for a more edge to edge sharp image you have to use such an aperture
@NegativeFeedback5 жыл бұрын
you have to keep in mind that with 8x10 the lens is 300mm, which means the focus is super shallow, it's quite different from other formats in terms of what that aperture will actually look like

for such a specific shot copying your friend is a no no in my book. id feel really cheap doing that regardless of what they took it with/how good it was. If your going to go to the expense and hassle of shooting 10x8 shoot something you have found.

Really enjoy your videos and photography, George. But to be honest, the subject matter and the shots do absolutely nothing for me. And with large format - maybe I just don't get it. Looking forward to the next video.
