This old tree is great. Go there on a foggy or snowy morning and do some b&w. Keep up your great work!

My local lab over here processes B&W Reversal and I quite like the result. Once you scan it, it looks very similar to regular T grain B&W film. Latitude is similar or maybe slightly better than colour slide film, at least with the Adox Scala I have been using.

Truly amazing, love to see you work with point and shoot 35mm. So interesting to see the work flow. Great work as ever.

These videos are great. Always interesting and inspiring hearing what you’ve been reading and shooting - and I like that you include images that failed too! Makes sense to only make these vids only when they feel right to make, so I’m good with them being a bit sporadic! ✌🏼

That's definitely not what I'd expect reversal black&white film too look like! I've shot Adox Scala recently and the results from normal negative processing looked excellent. 4x5 from inside the tree is stunning

Would you be able to do a really basic introduction to shooting with film/developing it/editing? Super keen to get into shooting with film as opposed to my DSLR but don't know where to start and need a few basic steps to get me started. Thanks!

What cross processing did you do on the black and white reversal film? Was it e6? Or was it black and white chemicals? Im interested in that look.

Awesome video again Gmoney! These videos are my favourite, always gets me stoked to go shoot more. Think I might try the b&w cross processing, I quite like the faint, grey, papery look.

There's a place in America that processes B&W slide. It's a DR5 process. Jason Lee shoots ADOX Scala - I've got one roll half shot waiting for better light and another roll to shoot. I might get some more if I'm going to send it all the way to America for processing. Also, fun fact there are some B&W negative films that can be turned into slide film, the same lab does it also.

2 things i wanted to comment on: 1. i think the b&w reversal film looks really cool. it reminds me of the work of daisuke yokota if you played around with exposure more. 2. the large format photos were great, although i have a suggestion for the next go. is your lab doing the 8x10 and/or 4x5 scans or are you doing them? i feel like the colors could use some work, right now they looked slightly off which happens often when using a flatbed scanner. i would try some plugins (colorneg/colorperfect come to mind) and see how the colors look.

Silverpan is a new lab which will develop black and white reversal film. Not too expensive either and you get flextight scans too!

cross processed in b&w chemicals?

Yo George, a thought for future flash usage. One way to work with a low powered flash when stopped down is to drag out the exposure time and fire the flash multiple times during exposure. Provided there is not wind/movement the light will compound nicely. Happy shooting!
@cappuccino046 жыл бұрын
the tree and its fairytal-ish appeal reminds me a lot of Guillermo del Toro's El Laberinto del Fauno, same vibes. plus, both the 8x10 (the one with the flash) and the 4x5 are amazing, i'd love a print of the latter!

On the B&W reversal front, there's an eBay shop called NorthernFilm which sell lots of interesting speciality films, lots of cinefilms with remjet removed, for example. They also sell B&W reversal film which can be developed in standard B&W chems. I think the main downsides are that it's something like ISO 0.8, and the film doesn't have sprocket holes so it has to be loaded into a 120 camera with an adapter. Still, worth checking out if it's something that interests you. Less than £20 for ten rolls as well!

If more light output from a portable source is what you need you could always try the cave photographer way: flashbulbs! Just remember it's the blue coated bulbs that are daylight balanced and that most are M-synch.
