With Ron and Bill gone someone needs to pick up and carry the 6.0 torch....This channel is just perfect to carry on with their diesel legacy....Your voice is easy to understand and clear and you go into great detail that normal guys like me can understand... Please take up the 6.0 torch and start sharing even more of your knowledge, experience, and tips that no book mentions, maybe a video a week or so... Great channel!!! Another great video, thanks. On my 2005 6.0, the prior owner installed a 7.3-style viscous drive clutch fan. I kinda like it because it's not likely to fail. What do you think? Another question please. On a road trip, I got a pinhole leak in the heater hose near the connection for my bypass water filter. I had tools and a piece of heater hose with me, so I fixed it before any overheating happened. But I had to settle for adding Prestone Coolant on the road. When I got back from the trip, I drained, flushed and refilled with Ford Gold and distilled water. Did I hurt anything with that Prestone in there for a couple thousand miles?

Hello, great videos, very helpful. I have a question, just put new KDD on ring heads, oil cooler, injectors, KC turbo, blue spring kit, arp studs, glow plugs and harnesses...pretty much everything and my truck is throwing out some white smoke, what's causing this? I've not driven it, I'm a little worried I could screw something up. Any suggestions?

Did you do a cylinder contribution test on it? It sounded like there was a low compressiom cylinder when you were cranking it up after the work.

No, it was beside the fact. I knew he wouldn’t do anything about it if it was. Just trying to keep it running for him. He’d park it before he sank that kinda money in it. That’s why he hasn’t fixed the bed plate leak either.

Should only have to remove the starter once to break the passenger side block plug loose. You can get to it for multiple flush and drain cycles without removing the starter with a ball end Allen key. A little thread sealant and an extra turn with a pair of pliers after the last flush, still no problems.

You could try retapping 1 size bigger and maybe have to drill the hole larger in the cover also. Replacing the whole thing really isn’t bad.

The neglected trucks leak. Trucks like my own which have the maintenance kept up on them don’t leak much. The big problem is when the bed plate leaks cause you gotta pull the motor and get it on a stand to replace it.

33:45 I am assuming the FICM doesn't have to be "grounded" to the truck to work properly? I guess it gets everything it needs via the wiring?
@AutomedicGarage
@AutomedicGarage 9 ай бұрын
The FICM body itself does not create a ground. There is a ground in the FICM/injector harness that gets its ground through the rear most drivers side intake bolt.

Does a 6.0 need studs if you’re not running a tune. I’m looking at add a BulletProof egr cooler, remote oil cooler, water pump with7.3 f/c, radiator and FICM. It’s a 05 F450 4x4 dually that I’ll be using to tow my trailer.

1. How much oil do you put in the valley before installing the new cooler and 2. Is the IPR coolant filter worth it or are spin-on types better. Thanks. In the process of flushing mine now with restore/ restore plus.
@AutomedicGarage

It’s probably around 1.5 quarts. Just don’t overfill cause you’ll push out and waste your new oil when the cooler goes down in there. I think the IPR is worth it however get what you can afford either is better than nothing

Sadly, Ford has now outsourced their OEM oil coolers to Dorman. Just bought one from a dealer and it is made in China. Lots of data about this in the forums. I ran it on my new engine build (2003), but as soon as my numbers start going adrift, which they are fine now, I will be going to an external cooler.
