@AutomedicGarage i just delt with this on my 03 while doing an inspection before reinstallation. after added up the cost of oem new pigtails it was cheaper to buy the new harness. so thats exactly what i did. otherwise its just a game of whack a mole. ive made sense of this while building a ficm harness, the gxl or equivalent wire use is only good as long as the motor is good. when the motor pops its head gaskets and egts and temps get out of control. that mixed with age and rodents spell disaster for these harnesses. i also suspect brake clean is acting as an aid to getting the insulation soft and gummy.

The early log manifold was scrapped for the later model “wavy” rail because the deadhead design of the log created issues with oil flow to the injectors. Edit: great video though man
@AutomedicGarage16 сағат бұрын
@@detroitdiesel7074 no different than a 7.3 is dead headed. Log is pressurized with oil, injectors “use” what’s called upon by FICM to push the fuel out of the injector with high pressure oil via the intensifier piston. Only flow issue would be when log is air filled after opening system and log is void of any oil. I seldom have to pull valve covers on a early 6.0 for HPO leaks and I attribute it to be a much less problem prone setup. The standpipe never fails, braided feed line never fails. It worked on the 7.3, dt466 and dt530 which are all proven work horses. Thanks for watching.

@@DanMarcelino your fan should not always be engaged, it kills fuel mileage. The puking coolant will get worse at some point.
@DanMarcelino5 күн бұрын
@@AutomedicGarage it's been 3 years of heavy use like this, and don't worry, I've got KDD aluminum heads coming with studs 👍🏼 but as for the fan, it's been such a better running truck with it on all the time. Way better temps, way better behaviour and I haven't noticed any decrease in mileage. I understand it's a parasitic load, but let me ask you.. do you use your A/C..? Same same. It's so minor, it's literally negligible. Like I said, I haven't noticed any loss in fuel economy. 🤷🏽♂️👍🏼
@AutomedicGarage5 күн бұрын
@@DanMarcelino I do use my ac but the fan is not commanded on constantly with ac on. Best option is 7.3 fan clutch conversion. It’s a viscous clutch which seldom fails and if it does it fails ON not OFF.
@DanMarcelino5 күн бұрын
@@AutomedicGarage I know that your fan isn't on all the time, I was using the parasitic load of the A/C compressor as an example I might go that route, but honestly I've seen nothing but benefits since I did this so I may dig my heels in a bit lol
@AutomedicGarage5 күн бұрын
@@DanMarcelino your truck, your motor, your heads. But ac load and fan clutch load are 2 drastically different loads on that engine. That’s why idle speed varies with ac clutch engagement but not with that fan clutch. The fan clutch has its own weight to help out with centrifugal force helping turn the fan while the ac clutch is a small round pump with no weight not to mention the cycles of on and off. If you like puking coolant that’s fine it’s your choice but it’s a symptom of a problem that will at some point get worse and despite claiming no lower fuel mileage it may not seem low because you’ve never seen the potential of not running the fan all the time.
