My maternal grandparents migrated to India from Poonchh in Pakistan. Their ancestral village was near Rawalakot. Any study on Kashmir shall be incomplete without accounting for the migrants.

She very cleverly didn't answer the poonch revolt question because she knows what Pakistanis believe is false and she don't want to get in any controversy. I am from Jammu (India) and every kid here is aware that tribals from KPK/ Afghan attacked us. The rebellion in Poonch against Maharaja was not that strong. And poonch is just 1 district in J&k. That doesn't speak about whole population. The majority of public wanted to stay with India only and not many people believed in the idea of Pakistan. And this is proven right by the fact that even after pak took hold of Kashmir ,kashmiris demanded independent Kashmir. Khud mukhtar Kashmir as they say. However pak army was able to change the demographics of POK in these 76 yrs.

❤In my postgraduation, there is a section in the physics book called Mathematical Physics. Similarly, I may be wrong in what I understand after listening to your entire speech. The topic of your research should be sociological anthropology which is a section of anthropology. I believe that anthropological research is not related to any narrative but sociological and journalism both are a major medium of narrative building. Dhanyawad Ma'am!❤

People in Smaller Provinces also find it very difficult to call themselves Pakistanis when they realize this is not Pakistan that was promised in Lahore Resolution.

I think this is a much needed investigation into less scrutinised aspects of AJK, certainly from an academic perspective. It should open doors for others in the territory and beyond to conduct investigations along similar themes.

People in Indian J&K have Indian citizenship and all nationality rights in India, unlike people of AJK in POK. India's First PM was from J&K, Nehru's actual surname is Kaul. He was Kashmiri Pandit.

What enabled a diverse people with their divided loyalties managed to strike out a unique identity, for example, in the case of Americans. Before the nation was born, the first president would refer to his fellow man as an American. Throughout their history, Americans would take a special pride in their specific identity. Such a pride in wider association is conspicuously missing in the entire Indian subcontinent. What makes men in America distinguish from the rest of the world?

Komalji, you have a foreign passport. Please visit Jammu and Kashmir and see for yourself the development in our side of Kashmir. You will realise the difference between the areas you come from and our Kashmir. Our people use their language and their cultural practices are all intact. It is the Pakistani occupied Kashmir that is a joke.

There must be a comparative research on the social freedom and social evolution of pre and post 'Article 370 abrogation" period. It must be an eye opener for many of us....and throw the light on those Jokers of erstwhile J&K politics - Muftis and Abdullahs and their hypocrite Indian political sympathizers...

The theme of the talk depicts "An anthropological analysis". What does Kashmiri people think about their own identity. Either to be part of Pakistan or India? What your study suggests about the people perception?

Probably the FIRST TIME ever I've seen a sane and normal discussion that is abt the issues in so-called "Azad Kashmir" ...and the TRUTH without just "blame Fascist India and move on" !! Compliments to ALL the participants... 👍 Fact is - the Indian side is LIGHT YEARS ahead - as noticed by one in Tithwal village in particular! 😊.... These miserable creatures from AJK still paying for their "wisdom" for joining Pakistan 😁🙏

Quite a thought provoking research. It made me question on IDPs. Why are own countrymen paraded as Internally displaced in their own country, especially from being the same faith. Such a divisive narrative building is tantamount to polarization.
