Greg is a true neighbor to share and supply water , and even have it ready for the work day . Better is a neighbor nearby than a brother far away

Best advice is to install as much insulation as you can afford. We paid extra, but installed 3 layers of insulation. Really helps with keeping ceiling cooler as well as less rain noise in the house.

My build was going great until i had to leave and come back to the US. Unfortunately, our foreman really took advantage of my wife. We are trying to decide if we are gonna sue or just get everything fixed. My biggest concern is retaliation against her and my son. She just recently did a vlog about it. Our retirement home will be managed by me the entire time. The house we are building now is just short term and not our forever home.

Unfortunately, the main person has to be present when you’re building anything in the Philippines. We’re still living in the U.S. so when my girlfriend was having a commercial building being built she put her uncle in charge of it (he lives there). When he wasn’t at the site, he hired someone to watch and make sure that everyone was working while he was away. Besides having trouble from local politicians on getting supplies like sand for concrete (apparently there’s somewhat of a monopoly) everything went ok.

The neighbor's house is going to be bigger than I originally thought! 😲 We're still looking at houses, new and existing, and looking at building lots, too. I really don't know what we'll end up doing, as far as becoming 10%ers 😉 That's odd that there wasn't any water at the outlet, especially with 6 straight days of rain! There must be a problem with the municipal lines? Thanks for the update on the neighborhood, Greg 👍

@@buildingthephilippines I found what I thought would be our perfect house (my latest video). Until last night, when we drove out to see it at night, in a rain storm... too much water on the road, and some deep puddles. My Wife told me that was too concerning for her. It needs to be a group decision, when we find our house.
@buildingthephilippines

Yeah, great advice. Go look at the house at night. Especially, Saturday night (loud music etc). After a rain storm is another good one.

Pass onto your neighbor to have someone double check where the roof steel is secured to the columns rebar. You need a good weld not just a tiny tack as i had on my new roof when Yolanda blew it off my new home.

The driveway up into the carport seems rather steep. You mentioned a wheelchair. The steep angle of the driveway and a wheelchair sounds like a dangerous combination. Also, landslides are a major issue in the Phils. You guys have no issue where your house is, but your neighbours might find themselves in trouble one day.
@buildingthephilippines
@buildingthephilippines 3 күн бұрын
@ZokStar1 wheelchair is for possibly future use. Wouldn't be used in driveway, just carport to house and back. Landslide very slim chance in this area.

That’s called Radiant Barrier insulation. It’s really effective in hot climates especially if you have a metal roof.

Their roof, looks pretty much like ours. I did lose the signal on my Starlink for a few minutes during the storm. Now we don’t have water at our construction site. I don’t know what my crew is going to do tomorrow without water, and we don’t have hollow blocks because they can’t make them in the rain. Did they put your solar wires in the plastic conduit where it runs along your roof. You got plenty of water, can you run that hose over to my place?

The US & West in general are crumbling into ashes. Vastly more people than ever before are desperate for a way off the sinking ship. I recently saw something on the US heavily pressuring Philippines & other countries to not only make visas & traveling far more expensive, but also much more complicated. But a different topic although related. With vastly more people it makes sense the rents & raw land are skyrocketing & not really keeping up with food & living costs. A massive shortage in both good labor & materials. Also the time of year which you mentioned the monsoons. This is all mixing together to cause these issues. In 1 build someone is waiting 6 months & counting just for a piece of large equipment for the next step in their home.

Hi Greg , I'm one of your subscriber, I understand expats can purchase land in the PH through their pinay wives, can you shed light how can a foreigner buy property in the Ph while his wife is a naturalized citizen of another country example the U.S ,Does she has to be a DUAL CITIZENSHIP holder? Thank you
@buildingthephilippines
@buildingthephilippines 23 сағат бұрын
Only filipino citizens can buy land. If your wife is now a US citizen, she needs to become a dual citizen. Gaining back her citizenship will allow her to purchase land. Your name can appear on the deed of sale and title as married to. That way, you're covered if she passes before you. You can never own the land yourself.
