Best advice is to install as much insulation as you can afford. We paid extra, but installed 3 layers of insulation. Really helps with keeping ceiling cooler as well as less rain noise in the house.

The neighbor's house is going to be bigger than I originally thought! 😲 We're still looking at houses, new and existing, and looking at building lots, too. I really don't know what we'll end up doing, as far as becoming 10%ers 😉 That's odd that there wasn't any water at the outlet, especially with 6 straight days of rain! There must be a problem with the municipal lines? Thanks for the update on the neighborhood, Greg 👍

@@buildingthephilippines I found what I thought would be our perfect house (my latest video). Until last night, when we drove out to see it at night, in a rain storm... too much water on the road, and some deep puddles. My Wife told me that was too concerning for her. It needs to be a group decision, when we find our house.

So you’re sharing so many things that will directly affect our steps in our build project. We have watch several of your videos. Now I will go back and watch everything and start a build folder with build tips and installer connections like your solar installer. Which is the first name on my list. If we are lucky enough to see you around town when we come for our month long stay in Apr. I would be thrilled to shake your hand and thank you in person. Keep up the great work.

Greg on the roof thats not insulation thats radiant barrier and only needs 1 layer. It should be drooped on the wire so it’s not touching the roof panels. glad to see they are doing that should be under all roofs regardless of the color. I see some builds don’t do it. Guess they don’t realize the cost savings from using it. My house will have it or sprayfoam.

My build was going great until i had to leave and come back to the US. Unfortunately, our foreman really took advantage of my wife. We are trying to decide if we are gonna sue or just get everything fixed. My biggest concern is retaliation against her and my son. She just recently did a vlog about it. Our retirement home will be managed by me the entire time. The house we are building now is just short term and not our forever home.
@lmcc00723 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, the main person has to be present when you’re building anything in the Philippines. We’re still living in the U.S. so when my girlfriend was having a commercial building being built she put her uncle in charge of it (he lives there). When he wasn’t at the site, he hired someone to watch and make sure that everyone was working while he was away. Besides having trouble from local politicians on getting supplies like sand for concrete (apparently there’s somewhat of a monopoly) everything went ok.

The driveway up into the carport seems rather steep. You mentioned a wheelchair. The steep angle of the driveway and a wheelchair sounds like a dangerous combination. Also, landslides are a major issue in the Phils. You guys have no issue where your house is, but your neighbours might find themselves in trouble one day.
@buildingthephilippines3 ай бұрын
@ZokStar1 wheelchair is for possibly future use. Wouldn't be used in driveway, just carport to house and back. Landslide very slim chance in this area.

Their roof, looks pretty much like ours. I did lose the signal on my Starlink for a few minutes during the storm. Now we don’t have water at our construction site. I don’t know what my crew is going to do tomorrow without water, and we don’t have hollow blocks because they can’t make them in the rain. Did they put your solar wires in the plastic conduit where it runs along your roof. You got plenty of water, can you run that hose over to my place?

Thank you
@buildingthephilippines3 ай бұрын
Only filipino citizens can buy land. If your wife is now a US citizen, she needs to become a dual citizen. Gaining back her citizenship will allow her to purchase land. Your name can appear on the deed of sale and title as married to. That way, you're covered if she passes before you. You can never own the land yourself.
