Watched this thing about beavers, and apparently the reason they build dams is a weird kinda OCD thing. Theyre amphibious, but they don't move very well on either water or land (better in the water), so they evolved the wood chomping thing and eventually learned to build homes near the water so they could protect themselves. They cannot stand the sound of running water, as it could mean a leak in their home, so when they hear it, they are compelled to fix it. They keep building and building until eventually they've built a damn and stopped the flow of water entirely. Pretty cool

Every time I hear one of these interviews with Louis CK, I realize that he’s not only a very intelligent guy, his heart is in the right place, and he really tries to do the right thing, be a good parent, and a good steward of the environment. Yeah, he did have that one kink that got him into trouble. But overall, he seems like a pretty good guy. And he’s an incredibly funny, standup comic. His bit about being overdrawn at his bank is still funny, still relevant, and very relatable.

There are probably a lot of reasons I could decide to be offended, but I'm more interested in the point they kept bringing up which is "humans made medicine, no other animal can heal itself", that's some flawed thinking lol. Tigers have antibodies in their spit that helps speed the healing process, so they lick each other when they have boo boos. There are so many species who actually use nature as medicine, there are millions of holistic plants that animals eat/use/gather/etc. Humans didn't invent medicine, we just made it really complicated. I don't think it's something to be proud of that we founded big pharma as a species. If big pharma didn't exist we'd still be fine as a species, just like the rest of the creatures on Earth. our ideas on evolution and thought are backwards . Animals don't evolve traits to be successful in an environment or to adapt to an environment . They adapt accidentally evolved traits into their behaviour and success or failure of that adapting by the animal to its physical traits and its environment determine whether the genetic trait persists and perpetuates into a new offshoot of the species . Go look up The True Story of Evolution by kevin taylor here on youtube , then when you've done that , read the life and habit verus the accidental evolution of an internal and external ecosystem powerpoints on the same channel to determine the thinking and behavioural processes involved . You'll be glad you did . I promise you , 20-30 minutes reading those , you'll gain a new understanding of what you are and how you came to be what you are .
