sometimes people are agoraphobic or just want to be left alone. even if they have issues. many of us will never ask for or accept help because of pride and never wanting to be seen as weak or pathetic. sometimes dignity is all they have and while I commend this clean up, I don't agree with all the comments saying that people should get involved with things they know nothing about. after all, you all probably enjoy your own privacy on some level.

Very dificult when someone absolutely will not answer the door to any callers, though - if they never emerge from the "safety" of the house, it's hard for neighbours, law enforcement, welfare, anyone to do very much
@victoriasuarez3193 Жыл бұрын
@Angharadz2 law enforcement can do plenty if called for a wellness check. But code enforcement only can give citation for violations. They don't even have to leave you notice on your door. Though they do, mail notification is all that's required. At least where I live. But the young ones don't care about anyone else but themselves. They ignore their neighbors unless they think they can get something in return. But one day, they'll get what they deserve.

Beautiful, beautiful job! You two are angels sent from above! I had an elderly gentleman that lived next door to me (his wife and daughter had both died from cancer). He was a WWII Navy veteran. I always mowed his yard, just because I wanted too. One day, there was a faint knock at my front door. The elderly man was there at my door and handed me a rose from his rose bush. He kept thanking me for taking care of his yard. I said "that's what neighbors do" and I gave him a hug. Unfortunately, he commited suicide a few weeks later😢! Sometimes we just don't know what a neighbor is going through, and they will carry their burdens alone. So, thank y'all for making a difference for the lady and her neighbors ❤!

They sure know how to call to complain about you, but God forbid they would extend a helping hand. Right now, we have a 40-something that moved in our block. He's a house flipper, harassing all of the older neighbors to buy our homes. If you are not fast enough getting your garbage cans in after pick up, he's calling code enforcement. When people see things like that in their neighborhood, If they have not seen a person enter and return to that house periodically. They should call the authorities the police to ask them for a wellness check , Sometimes it could be illegal aliens, squatters, Or someone is being held without their consent Like being kidnap. And if everything is okay then you can start you don't have to ask the person but you got to understand when a person at their yard get like that they don't have the money or either they're sick they're up in age they don't really have contact with people anymore because everybody that they practically know is sick or dead And their immediate relatives younger folks their mind does not tell them you if you age you going to be in this situation one day . So please neighbors remember it is a reflection on your house and neighborhood when this happens that a person that their house gets so gross so wildly and trees and branches and grass , It would be good if the neighbors got together and chip in money it would probably be $5 if its 14 houses on the block and you can pay somebody $5 to come by every two weeks like your grass is cut $5 and they cut those persons that person's grass but first you got to get a wellness check to make sure that person is. Incapable of not doing it themselves or financially incapable that they cannot afford it. We are to be helpers one to another. In all practicality and honestly and truthfully when we do something for someone else their benefit we are really doing something to benefit ourselves because it goes to the throne room of God so the neighbors could just get together and say this is what we will do for twice twice twice a month that those persons get their grass and stuff maintain and they can pay $5 a week you know for every two weeks and so that would be $10 for each that's not a bad deal I myself has in my neighborhood no one was living in the house the people had moved and it was the grass was getting tall and it does not make sense because when people see grass is tall and stuff they will check and see if anybody there if it's not then they start squatting then they start selling drugs maybe I don't know but you know some bad things can happen and more the grass grow up tall you really can't do it you can I see what's going on with that property So really being helpful will really be being helpful to yourself And on top of that magnifying your goodness and mercy is presented to the throne room. that person may not bless you they may not offer you anything but God will profit you through somebody it may be 5 years of 10 and not only that your children might be in a predicament and they need help that you have accumulated . You don't lose anything if you're good to other people so I think it's a blessing for the neighbors and any neighborhood when they see something like that get together and some of them may not want to pay $5 every two weeks which would amount to $10 each a piece a month they may not want so just don't get angry still speak to him if that's not what they want to do you guys you go on and you do the good thing the right thing God has never against anybody that is doing the good and right things in his name I love you much I love you all in Christ Jesus name be the glory amen 🙏🕊️ forever 🙏🕊️💞 with much love❤

Watching your Mom work like that and bend over lifting, reminds me of how I was, working alone in my garden (did enjoy the solitude and the end result when finished) really has me concerned she doesn’t cause damage to her spine. My damage was in the last 5 years, as I am older with circumstances during those years caused me to lift things that was heavier than the bags of mulch. NOW my neighbor mows my lawn and snow blows the driveway, at a very nominal price, that my son pays for. My children and their families live out of state, and I’m very thankful to God for having this help. Watching this channel, with the people who can’t do it on their own, and who don’t have the advantage of help, made me realize “but by the Grace of God, there go I” You are a complete blessing for your once a week volunteer day, wedged into your regular work days.

@anitamiller7960 Police are usually the ones who do a "well check" on people in most towns. The person would not get into any trouble for "being a recluse". If the person is ok when the police check on him/her, then they leave and do nothing. If the person needs assistance, then the police either to provide it, or contact the proper agency to help the person. It is the humane thing to do. An elderly member of my church was glad a neighbor called to have as well check done on her. She had a bad fall and laid on her floor for 3 days in pain & unable to call anyone to get help. She had no family to check on her. She said the neighbor saved her life by being concerned and calling for a well check.

This was a beautiful thing you did for that person! My yard has gotten in really bad shape, over the year but that is only cause my landscaper is going through his own battles with family and health. So it has been a year since my front and back yard have been clean. My neighbors called code enforcement on my yard but no one bothered to knock on my door, I have social anxiety and I do not open my door to unannounced guests, but a note could've been left and I could have spoken to them on the phone. My family is toxic and I have no contact with them. It's just me and my twin brother who has cerebral palsy and I am his caregiver 24/7. I don't really leave my house unless I HAVE to. I kind of wish my neighbors reached out more instead they called CE on me. I've been in contact with my landscaper and am waiting for said job to be done, now that there is a deadline before a fine is issued. Anyway, I'm saying all of this is because sometimes life happens and to give people grace. I hope the person who lives there is doing okay and I hope they can get the help they need.💜

@NaeniaNightingale Жыл бұрын
I would do it once but not every time and especially not if this is how it ends up all the time, if the person have gotten so elderly they can’t take care of the lawn then it’s time to move into a apartment that have no garden.
@gladiusgamer9324 Жыл бұрын
sadly it's the society we live in, even NaeniaNightingale above me proves the mindset. If this was my neighbor and elderly, I'd take care of their lawn when I did my own.
@danaferguson462 Жыл бұрын
As a Senior, the comments about "moving on" is so offensive. I can't!! I just can't believe people are so nasty. There will always be struggles in life. Giving up has never been the answer. Can't wait till some of these "know it all's" get an opportunity to become Seniors. Wish I could be there for it.

Pretty snotty suggestion...Does she have any money for an apartment, moving costs? Maybe she loves her own home? You do not have to be elderly to lose lawn /yard care abilities!! How about a vigorous person in their thirties crippled suddenly by a drunk/druggie driver? Would you make them leave their home?@@NaeniaNightingale
@sherylwilson86511 ай бұрын
@@NaeniaNightingale News flash, why should she move to an apartment,just because she's elderly? She probably owns that home outright. I'm glad you're not my neighbor, here we help each other and check on each other.

My mother lives in B. C Canada, she will be 93 and she has only gone out a few times in the last couple months for dr.s and such. My sister and I live in Ontario, so we cannot go check on her. My sister orders most of her groceries online for her. My mother had to deal with covid and three bad falls including one where she broke a couple ribs. I finally talked her into going to the hospital to get checked out. They said they don't rap broken ribs anymore but gave her something for the pain. She will not move back to Ontario so we can look after her. She has a doctor and tens of thousands in Ontario like us have no family doctor. We helped look after an elderly lady until she passed. Her son was a dink.

The youth group at a local church does once a month yard cleanup for the elderly in our community. When my mother passed away the group showed up the morning of her funeral (the funeral procession would go past her house on way to cemetery) and cleaned the yard up and placed flowers around her mailbox in appreciation for the years of joy she provided the community with her beautiful yard. It can be overwhelming, as I’m realizing the older I get, to maintain a yard and not everyone has means to pay and would never ask for help.

Wow. It looks phenomenal now! Bless her heart. Like the neighbor said, there has to be a reason for being a recluse. Maybe she has nobody to check on her and maybe she's by herself in this world. That's a bleak thought. Maybe it brought her some degree of comfort to know there are other humans outside of her closed in world, that care enough to extend kindness to her and clean up her property. I sure hope that it has. Our elders need us, no matter the circumstance and I wish her well. Thank you for helping her, and the community as well. Blessings to you both! Bravo!! 🎉 37:13

Popped into my feed today. I am surely blessed as a senior. My daughter calls me almost everyday since she doesnt live nearby. I have younger neighbors who have let me know if i need something to call them. We are rural so our mailboxes are on same side of the road. Box next to mine opens my box. If on the 3rd day i have not gotten mail they would bring to door and see if i was ok. They now know the days i go to the box so they dont worry as much. Due to some mobility issue i cant push a mower so i bought a rider and have no problem doing their front yard, no access to their rear yard with locks in place so i do what i can to help them out. I used to be the neighbor who helped my neighbors all the time. Kepp wondering when did i become the old lady of the neighborhood lol. Be kind to your neighbors and get to know them, its so valuable and rewarding in so many ways.

Thank you both for helping out!! Much as this yard was bad, I’m more disturbed by most of the neighbours’ attitudes. Nobody seems bothered about her welfare, especially considering all the odd things like mail blowing across to the neighbours yard, water flooding a neighbouring property, etc. I agree with Trish, something must have happened to her a year ago. Poor lady, it seems no one would care ( or know) if she fell ill or died in there! I hope and pray that empathy and sympathy somehow prevails.

Thank you for being so kind and generous. So many people see situations like this and all they can do is bitch about how it inconveniences them. Few people are compassionate enough to stop and say, “Hey, what happened to cause this? Is the owner elderly, or sick, or disabled and they can’t take care of it themselves? Perhaps they are living in Social Security and simply don’t have the money to hire help.” Bad things happen to good people everyday, and it has nothing to do with their character! We need to help each other!

Like the others..thank you for thaf❤ the poor woman is probably suffering from depression or loneliness. I hope the sun that comes in her windows now helps lift her heart. Maybe the neighbors will wave at her without ever seeing her and put a smile on her lips just knowing someone is out there thinking of her Some people have no one who cares and a kindness like this could give them light again. Let's all try to give someone compassion so they don't feel lost in a world where they may feel forgotten. A kind word or gesture costs nothing but can mean the world to a lost sole and the reward of a smile back is worth more than any gold❤

Thanks for doing what you could, your very kind. Can't imagine what the inside of this place looks like, so sad that people can hang a code violation on a place, but don't do a welfare check on the person living there. After a certain amount of time, neglect of a home/yard becomes a hazard situation, and privacy becomes a medical/wellness issue. This sounds like that situation according to neighbors testimony. Praying this person gets the help needed.🙏 Thanks for your help.

In have done it for my neighbour when the need was there. ( Medical issues.) Now that it has been done, that front yard both behind and outside the fence is about 20 mins work with push motor mower and maybe another ten minutes once in a while with a weed eater to maintain the edges. If a few pitched in they might only be called upon every couple of months to contribute half an hour. I'm 72 and getting a little wobbly, but not so wobbly I can't do better than complain.
