Why not celebrate everyone...actors and athletes can be heroes too. Some of them do great things for others. I think we should learn to embrace everyone and not segregate people in groups and say one is better than the other. Just my humble opinion

This doesn’t mean not recognizing actors and athletes... it should mean recognize everybody for what they’ve done. Yes, we tend to recognize actors and athletes because we see them everyday in movies, shows, and games. I think rather than forgetting about the people who have given up other things to entertain us, we should recognize everybody for what great people they might be.

It’s okay to celebrate people who worked hard for shit but celebrating someone because of how much money they have is a recipe for destroying the future generations
@Welshy
@Welshy 4 жыл бұрын
I actually don’t agree with her on that, people always make it an either/ or situation, you can celebrate both regular people and people who have achieved a lot, acting and being an athlete takes YEARS of work and even then there’s a slim chance you’ll actually even start to make it in the industry. Most people in both fields don’t even make it as far as for it to be a liveable job, her statement comes across more as “celebrate people until they become recognised”

I have health problems and have trouble walking. When I came out of a variety store a woman was cleaning off excess snow from my car. She said she saw I was having difficulties. Then she followed me to the last store I needed to get things from and went in and purchased them for me. I paid her back of course. She refused to take the extra money that I offered her. She was late in taking her daughter to school that day. Thank you Melissa.

My dad has been working for UPS for 32 years and just saved an older womans life who fell in her yard and was stuck there for 3 days. He didn't know her. Just happened to have a stop down the road and noticed she was in the yard. He's had several moments like that throughout his career. I worked Pre-Load for 2 years, before moving on to other things, but UPS really is a good company to work for. Had no idea that had a recognition program like that.

Also almost all of us were immigrants at some point in our ancestry, is so crazy how people forget this.

YES WE CAN yes he would’ve. Do you know how many videos I seen of white men receiving praise. And why are you mad that he is getting praise. For years white people have been praised in the media, in America, in this world. People want to look like white, live with white people, date whites people, have hair like rhem. And blacks are always told we look scary, our hair is nappy, we all are thugs, some even say we should’ve stayed slaves. So yes maybe it’s our turn to recieve praise because I see white people get it all the time and it’s not fair that just because they are white they are more accepted over a black man

What most people don't know is that some UPS drivers are like this not just with the people but with their coworkers. One day when I worked at the store. Sometimes they would come by and eat lunch with us. One time a UPS driver got jumped and ended up killed. It made them cry because they knew that driver and was communicating with everyone to be safe and told us to triple check and make sure none of the girls that work at the store is alone and the back door locked at all times unless its one of them. They really do look after each other no matter how stressful the job is.

@@davidfarmer9017 I know it makes you feel like a king to assume I'm some racist, angry guy. Its easier to do that than it is to try to understand the why, the real reason why! Perhaps my experiences play a role in the way I process moments like the one in this video. I see it as disingenuous. Maybe if it was from the UPS delivery personnel's view... it would seem more authentic. Instead, this looks like typical damage control, and PR moves that any corporation would do after it absorbs a negative public blow. Bigotry in America is no longer an open secret lurking in the shadows like ghosts or hidden underground like sewage pipes. Now America is stripped nude and trying to hide its shame with these puffy pieces about racial harmony. Imagine for a moment, if you never heard of this event until the UPS driver posted it on the internet. Imagine if he was the only person recording. Imagine if the media never got a hold of the story and it was just a popular viral video... it would certainly be more genuine and the UPS driver wouldn't feel so used. Look at him, and tell me if you see happiness on his face or if you see a guy trying to figure out, what the heck is are these folks trying to pull... and why am I on USA TODAY?! I didn't become a critical thinker over night. I was once the type of person who could be fooled by stories such as this one. But I got my wake up call. You assumed I need your prayers... the reality is you need mine.
@davidfarmer9017
@davidfarmer9017 3 жыл бұрын
I appreciate your thoughtful response. But again, I disagree. And no, I don't feel like a king? I feel badly for how this video has been characterized by you in such a cynical way. Clearly you have deep seated reasons for feeling the way you do. And I'm not arrogant enough to assume I can fully understand those feelings Arell. But if you step back, remove your tinted glasses, you'll see that first, this wasn't some video posted by a major media outlet to somehow shape opinion. It appears to simply be a video that someone genuinely posted to try and spread love rather that hate and discourse that is so rampant today as it pertains to racism in America. Is there racism? Sure. There always has been, and there always will be. And not just between blacks and whites or even simply targeting blacks. Epidemic levels? No. Not as its being presented and stoked daily. Our country has had enough in my opinion. Americans in general are great people from all walks of life. So let's celebrate a positive video, no matter where it came from, and end this cynical bashing of projecting hate and bias based on such insufficient and malnourished data that's being twisted daily by those who are blinded by systemic hatred, using "causes" to shroud their true intent. You're smarter than that, and so am I. Just watch a nice story that highlights a great person, smile and move on. Spit out the koolaid, it's not always a conspiracy, it's just people being nice. PS. I appreciate your prayers for me.

@@davidfarmer9017 Being realistic, is not being cynical. The Thanks-Giving holiday is also a National Day of Mourning for true Native Americans. Are they being cynical? I say true Natives, because many have descended from families who paid 5 dollars for Native American status through the Dawes Rolls. They did this to gain benefits from new policies made to Natives, particularly regarding land ownership. It (Dawes Rolls) was strategy set up by the very people who were helping the Natives. Hate comes with a smile. That's why God warned to look out for wolves in sheep's clothing. But I guess God is being cynical.
