Story 3, the lion, the witch, and the audacity of this b----. She ditched plans for celebrating her husband's birthday for her friend that called last minute and she has the gaul to be mad over the op going out anyway. She doesn't have the right to be pissed, she made her choice on where she would rather be. Edit: someone else in this comment section made a very good point. Who prioritizes their friend over, whats supposed to be, the love of their life? If im right, would explain her being quick to anger because she is projecting what she did on to him. If i was him, if she did it again i would hire a P.I. to tail her. She is either not meeting whe she says she is, or she is cheating on him with a woman.

Not to mention she calls him controlling when talking about scheduling then turns around and admonishes him him for going out with a friend. It wasn’t just a date night, it was to do something for his birthday. She’s acting like she was always going to have the night out and could do it whenever she wanted. If anything, that’s more presumptuous and controlling

Story 1: As funny as that was, maybe the OP shouldve just left their laundry soap in their own apartment? Just a thought... but it is also a good lesson on to leave other people's things alone. Story 2: Yeah, cancelling and re-booking was definitely the smart way to go here... but also make sure that your flights are refundable, otherwise, this could've been a major nightmare for the OP. Good way to save some money though. Story 3: OP is by no means a jerk here. Was he telling her who she could and couldn't see? Doesnt appear so... he just wanted her to be with him on his birthday, and it seems the wife's friend was going to be there after it too. She didn't want to spend the OP's birthday with him, so he found someone who did, in this acse, his best friend. I dont see why the wife is being such a huge drama queen here. Story 4: This is definitely a job you do not want to be working at. The whole working hours extra was bad enough, but then to demand you come back after getting run over by a car?? I would sue this place big time... OP couldve been seriously injured here and symptoms could've developed later on, and the bosses just don't care. Story 5: Okay, the OP needs to tell her sister to rack off here... especially with how bad the BIL was towards the OP and her dad's funeral. I hate it when people try to pull the 'family' card here whenever they want something, especially money. The OP is under absolutely no obligation to help out either the sister or the BIL here... especially with the sisters gaslighting and guilt tripping. You can almost be assured that if the OP did give money to help, she's never see a single cent of it back, even if she were to get it in writing. Story 6: Uhh.... no! Minimum wage is not "discretionary", its mandatory by the law. Good thing other employees didn't tolerate this and got their governmetn and taxman involved here. Sucks that other people got screwed like this and eventually lost their jobs when the cafe was shut down, but hopefully that owner lost everything he had because of it. Story 7: And here we have another scumbag boss. I dont know about California laws here, but i know where i am (BC, Canada) if you either 8+ a day or 40+ a week, you are entitled to overtime pay, not one or the other and definitely not whatever the boss chooses. Many bosses just expect their workers to not know the laws in regards to pay, and stories like this are exactly why you should read up on local laws. Also, anyone that tells you workers comp doesnt exist is one of the biggest red flags out there.... you definitely dont want to work for someone like that. Not sure how or why that boss passed on, but good riddance. Story 8: Well, this one went from very awkward to rather funny. You would think that someone would've gotten some grief over accidently declaring her deceased when she is very much still alive. At least "Zombie" Ms. Jackson was able to get a new account and StarCard created with no issues and was able to have a laugh about it with the OP. I know a lot of people out there would've probably made a huge stink out of all this.

For story 1, I think that the reason they were leaving the soap down in the basement is because they lived on the 3rd floor without an elevator. So I guess going up and down the stairs with the soap plus all the laundry would be pretty tough for them.

I used to have someone stealing laundry detergent from me so I just hid the box. They proceded to just use the laundry machine without any detergent and hoping it would clean their clothes. Surprise, it didn't but they persisted doing another 5 or so batches of laundry. It was an eye sore looking at their dirty grayish laundry drying. And they used those clothes and sheets afterwards. Worst part is that they were in no way unable to afford detergent, they just liked mooching off others :(

What a joke. The husband mocks the dad but wants his money, the sister wants all the inheritance and as the friend said it seems they never even considered the cars an option. The don’t want help or a loan, they want someone else to pay for everything who they can then cut off. They want others to change their life plans for them but aren’t willing to do anything in their own lives to get the money by selling what they spent their share on.

For the first story, the first apparent I lived in, they had 4 different laundry hookups (one for each unit). My now wife & I purchased a washer & dryer from a tenant that was leaving. After a new tenant moved in, we noticed clothes that weren’t ours I. The washer and/or dryer. We figured out it was the new tenants using it. We asked them how they’re doing laundry (thinking they fully read the lease saying there’s hookups and each tenant pays their own unit electricity bill), they only said “oh, there’s washers and dryers down there” (there were only 2 washers & dryers that us and the oldest tenant bought in our own spots for units. Wife & I put combination locks on the washer/dryer doors. The new tenants ended up using the oldest tenant’s washer/dryer. Rent was cheap (~$800) and utilities to pay were water & electric (which what our washer/dryer used) not the jerk, and we only lived a few blocks away from a coin laundry that was only $0.50 per load…

I wouldn't give the sister money unless i got some form of written agreement saying she will pay me in x amount of time. A Promissory note. Watch her change her tune REALLY quick. She wont sign cause she knows she wont pay you back and you then have full right to sue right and take her assets.

Am I the only one that funny to strange on story 3 that the best friend was in town for quite a long time but yet last minute the original poster's wife makes it a priority to literally go spend time with this friend when they're getting ready to leave Germany soon that makes no sense unless neither one the wife is purposely trying to not spend time with the original poster because clearly she's not happy in this marriage and there's so much going on that can also lead into basically part two of my thoughts is this unless she's having a secret affair with the best friend and yes even though I know that she stated her that her best friend is a woman but it is possible for a woman to have an affair with another woman because nobody's going to prioritize their friend that badly on the last day that they're about to go like I can maybe understand like of the wife was going through a lot of stuff that kept her busy alongside the original poster where they both didn't get to meet and spend time with this friend whatsoever that's the only thing I can really think of and that's the only reason that the original poster's wife took this opportunity to finally see the friend but even then the fact that it took a whole entire day to the point where the original poster was able to go to a restaurant with their best friend and the wife just came home late last minute that pretty much says that there's something more going on like I said before which is the cheating part sew in all honesty I think the original poster needs to take their chances and just divorce their wife because no amount of therapy are couples counseling is going to cure the issues that are going on with the wife

Third Story: This guy was and wasn't the jerk at the same time. Was because he was rubbing it in his wife's face that he went with his friend after she did the same a day earlier, and wasn't because it was his birthday, so it's not like that wasn't gonna happen.

And even then. If you are in a spot so tough you can't buy laundry detergent, you swallow your pride, knock on the neighbors door, and ask if you can borrow their detergent for a bit, with a promise of reimbursement or of a fresh batch of cookies when things will return to normal. Most neighbors will help you no problem.

Story 1: she did the right thing. They could have asked if it was financially serious. Story 2: He needs to get a new job that appreciates him. Story 3: Taking care of her sister's family is not her problem. The sister and her husband should have done what they were supposed to do to care for his condition. If she was serious shed sell all the cars except 1 and pull money from.the equity in their house. Guilt tripping is BS.

heres my story i was with my sister and her doughter lily becouse my mum hade to go to work im 13 shes 18 and her doughter is 5 and im bored so i go on my phone and i call my friend becouse im bored and she tells me to be quite so i tell her to shut the f up and she gives me a hard slap on the back of my neck and im still on the phone embarrassed i hanged up and stormed of to the guest room to annoy her i sneaked out of the guest room went to her room and i brake one of her fav lip sticks and i hide it under her pillow then i go back to the guest room lily walks in wanting to play and i dont want to so i say no she starts crying so i say fine fine il play we start playing tag and im chasing her shes not looking foward and she rruns into the desk hitting her head and break a laptop my sister walks in the room yelling at me and lily till she sees lily bleeding alittle and a broken laptop on the floor she looks at me and starts shouting then walks over to lily to see if shes ok she asks what happened lily and before lily says anything i try to intervene but before i can say anything my sister tells me to shut up so i do then lily scared of what might happen if she tells the truth she points and me and said he push me and my sister gets up and starts yelling at me calling me a dumb fing moron and i should just give up on life so i say f you then and walk out the room 10 mins later lily walks up to me and hites me with a barby toy so i grab the toy and throw it and she calls for my sister and tells her i was being mean and my sister the b she is desides to make me apolagize and im like f no i didnt say that becouse i didnt want to die so i said why she hte me with the toy my sister slaps my head and said im not telling you again apolagize so say ok ok im sorry and i storm of once again to the guest room and im on my phone watching youtube and miss b aka the wh+++ aka lily takes my phone and throes it at my head and it hurt like hell so i push her and punch her hard my sister walked in at the last second and pulled me off with me crying and yelling in pure rage wanting to kill her luckerly my mum got back before anything else could happen so you tell me am i the jerk?

Story 3: The wife is controlling and a hypocrite. She ditches her husband on his birthday (I get that she wanted to hang out with her friend who's leaving but it sounds like there were other opportunities for that) but instead of being happy he still had a fun day with his friend, she gets angry for being left out of the plans she walked out on? That's crazy. Story 4: Worst workplace ever. That environment sounds toxic af and I hope that OP got out of there. You'd have to be really heartless to find out an employee got hit by a car and immediately telling him he needs to be back in time. Story 5: Don't give her that money. You never give people money if there's no guarantee they will pay you back. Besides, you should not have to give up something as important as your education to pay for something your sister can seemingly afford easily by adjusting her lifestyle a little. On top of that, it sounds like the sister and her husband are not exactly pleasant people, no wonder no one else wanted to pay for his medical bills.
