I'm a millennial who used the first wave of hair chalks. The key is to put pressure on the back of the hair you're chalking. Sandwich the hair between the thumb and the hair chalk and press hard as you're sliding it down. You don't want to go back and forth as much because you're dusting off what you laid down. Also, once you've hit 'enough' hair chalk, hairspray the heck out of it because if you touch your hair again, it's coming off lol

I once bought hair chalk for myself and I remember it said the hair had to be sprayed with water first. It worked and looked kinda nice for a few hours.

I don't understand why collectors are still salty for RH rebranding and targeting kids. I mean here are the two options: 1. Make excellent quality dolls, target adult collectors, keep the price as low as possible ➡ Adult collectors still demand more, complain about the price, don't know difference between quantity vs quality, and most wait for sales. Parents and kids are also turned away because while the dolls are high quality, parents don't care. 2. Make nice quality dolls, target kids and parents, keep the price low and affordable ➡ most parents and kids are satisfied with purchase, kids don't mind the doll doesn't have BJD level of articulation or working pockets or the new acrylic hand molds every release with tiny painted details, parents think the doll was affordable and has play value. The rebrand of course, isn't for me nor does it appeal to me. I find the new articulated body weird (indifferent to the body on these budget ones), I also don't like most of the new fashion pieces, but most base dolls themselves are still pretty. Their clothing is also still high quality. While I don't like the reboot, I can understand it. RH offered so much, but clearly the manufacturing price for it kept adding up each year and adult collectors would rather pay for licensing fee and shareholder dividends than a nicely constructed outfit, a beautiful sprayed face, and nice painted accessories.

PREACH! Collectors don’t have to like the reboot to understand why it happened. It’s been over a year and they’re still making so much noise over a product not aimed for them and it spoils the fun for everyone else.

MGA doesn't have shareholder dividends. All of their profits are their own. And they certainly don't pay licensing/royalties fees, as their designs are blatant knock offs, but just under the radar of clothing companies, except for Burberry, apparently.

Personally these dolls have a lot of potential and I hope Rainbow High will make a Wave 2 of this line with the Core girlies. But I think Jade deserves a budget doll to be honest. But I can’t wait for this Saturday and have my own money to buy these girlies. They have a lot of potential honestly.

MGA has decided to go for a more childish direction for rainbow high and cut back on quality and detail. Many of the new dolls are mid as a result.

In case Jay doesn't get a chance to answer this better, here's my quick explanation: They 'rebranded/rebooted' everything about a year ago, and basically decided to really cheapen things and lower their quality standards. They changed their target audience to younger children, which meant more simple clothing (cheap), they stopped doing full articulation in every joint, and just basically cheapened everything and made it less luxury/classy and more childish.

@@MylingCyrus with quality comes a equivalent price tag, and while adult collectors loved that, even they started complaining about the RH price tags while RH was constantly doing new acrylic hand molds, small painted details on the nails, bunch of embellishments and construction on the clothing which all adds up quickly in price. Kids deserve quality, but they also could care less that a doll has working pockets and embroidery, while parents will definitely not and will buy the cheaper option usually.

adding onto what others said, RH was really serving with the fashion and quality pre reboot. Fabric shoes, 3d embellishment’s, realistic faux jean, etc etc. The new releases barely qualify as fashion dolls

At least Meline got another doll. She does seem like an odd choice to give her straight hair, though, because she really doesn't look like herself without her curls to me. And Amaya gets way too many dolls, in my opinion. As with every other RH Rebrand, I will be skipping these dolls.🖤💜🌈

In 2024 I started this which is why I didn’t do much reviews last year. Any review I made last year are dolls I kept but most I didn’t so they were returned and never filmed if that makes sense. In this case because they’re considered a Xmas gift if I don’t like em I’ll return em review or not which doesn’t seem to be the case 💙

🌈 i like the faces on both (i’m the rare amaya enjoyer with the white & rainbow hair) and i could probably live without articulation but i have no interest in the hairplay aspect and don’t particularly like the outfits. so i might pick them up on a sale, i have plenty of clothes i can use for restyling - but it’ll have to be a REALLY good sale. thanks for the review! 🌈

I accidentally got a budget Emi from Amazon. I tried to order another real Emi ( that was the pic & description), but they sent me a budget one. So I nicely complained to Amazon ( it was an Amazon resale ), they said keep the budget doll, we'll refund $, then just order again, they said theyd guarantee the original. today i was at my local antique store. I think Barbie is boring as a fashion doll however she gets really cool collectors dolls everything from NBA, Nascar, Movie charcters and celebrities. What blown my mind today was Barbie and her 5 doll biker gang. Barbie Harley Davidson. Barbie has a motorcycle. Rainbow High has Chalk! Where is the cool collectors for rainbow high?
