Famed Apollo 11 astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon, was an engineering research test pilot at the NACA High-Speed Flight Station, later the NASA Flight Research Center, at Edwards from 1955 through 1962. This video recalls some of the many contributions he made to aerospace research during his seven-year stint at the center before he was selected for NASA's astronaut corps.

On Joshua Memorial Park in Lancaster, just few miles from Edwards AFB and Neil's Armstrong Flight Research Center, there's a grave of his beloved daughter, Karen Anne "Muffie". Neil was visiting this place as many times as possible even though he lived on a farm in Ohio. He loved and hated at the same time that place (Antelope Valley, Juniper Hills and Edwars AFB). He had the best days of his life and the worst ones during Karen's long and lost battle with terminal brain tumor (DIPG). On January 28, 1962 she gained her angel wings in arms of Janet in Littlerock, in Neil's old ranger house located on Juniper Hills. This is why Neil was so emotional there... he left his heart in Antelope Valley. The rest of Neil's history you probably know from history books, Discovery Channel, National Geographic etc.
