We flew with our kids from the UK to JFK on the 4th April 2024, followed the clear skies to Tupper Lake, upstate NY and watched the majesty of this. My second total eclipse after the August 1999 one in Northern Europe. Magical, inspiring and enduring... if you get the chance to witness one of these... Make It Happen!

I traveled from NJ to Dallas. The day before the eclipse, the weather was not looking good. My brother found a website that gave us a 'prediction' of cloud cover. We drove 5 hours north east to Mena, Arkansas. We had clear skies the entire time. It was AMAZING!!!! 👍🏿

@@StarFox6.4 We stayed home in Metro Detroit and I would estimate the totality was 98-99%. It was really cool. Crazy how the birds quieted down. Luckily, still a little too chilly here for mosquitoes! Glad you were able to see the whole totality, and thank you Dr. Tyson for sharing your passion and inspiring people.

I traveled about 350 miles from West Texas to Dallas to view the eclipse. Unfortunately, instead of remaining in Dallas proper for the eclipse, I chose to (try to) view it from SouthFork Ranch in Parker, TX, where the exterior footage of the home life of the famous TV show "Dallas" took place. The clouds let us view all of the eclipse EXCEPT for totality, as the thicker clouds decided to start rolling over the view of the sun just about 5 minutes before totality began, and then they got thinner again just after totality!! I was SO bummed!!! The midday darkness was really neat, but to be denied a view of the best part felt rather cruel, especially when people in Dallas proper apparently got to view totality, esp from the Cotton Bowl. Oh, well, it's neat to have the memory of being just a few feet from the famous SouthFork house during the eclipse, and then I got to tour it afterwards!

I drive from Tampa florida to Emory Texas and it was cloudy the entire time except the last 30 mins and it was clear and as soon as totality ended a big cloud came over I got lucky

I was EXTREMELY fortunate to have driven my 70 y/o mother and I to Indianapolis, IN from Hampton Roads ,VA to view it. I can’t even begin to formulate the words, to describe being able to share that moment with her and seeing how amazed she was being able to see it!! Her first and my second(2017 first). The 15 hour drive to and from was WORTH IT! PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I live in southern NY. I took a trip to upstate NY and was right across the river from you all. Man, the eclipse was wild. I took off from work, let my daughter skip school, and rented a camper. Definitely worth it for this once in a lifetime experience.

I was in Zilker park, Austin for the eclipse. Flew all the way from Manchester, UK to see it. Even thought there were clouds blocking the view for most of the eclipse, it was still an amazing experience. Caught a glimpse of the eclipsed sun and the corona too. ​@or2ak the world is expensive too live in, let alone travel. There are more people struggling to get by now, than there was 50 years ago. So with that, for many people. Traveling is not an option, we're stuck. I live in Texas where we were expecting complete cloud cover. To say I was disappointing would be an understatement, as I would have to wait a long 20 years that I don't know if I could make it to, for the next American eclipse. So for me, this could very well be the only eclipse I see. And I am extremely grateful the clouds stayed away before the end of totality.

Neil and team, you're the best! Thank you for all the perspective you have provided me over the years. Meanwhile here in northeastern Ohio, We didn't have clouds and was clear skies oddly enough. Was completely beautiful. We had complete totality for about 3.5 minutes and was completely night. What was really cool was watching the shadow come from the southwest getting closer to me in the sky. Then all the street lights, and building lights came on as if night. But, it was EERILY silent, no birds, no dogs, cars, nothing. Was beautiful. I would love to see this high up in the mountains.

What would make you think that? Eclipses happen all the time and he could go to many more. There is nothing requiring him to stay within the lower forty eight states. Neil is a global citizen. I as a poor person living on very low income have that restriction and did not even get to travel for this one so only saw a partial, but Neil is rather wealthy compared to me. Even poor I was planning to travel but had medical reasons to stay here. A cat scan was more important at this time.

April 8th, my Solar Eclipse watch birthday 🎉🎉🎉 I wasn't in the path, looking at the partial solar eclipse from Florida. Me and my daughter saw it through the eclipse shades that arrived just in time from Amazon. My son, his wife and my grandsons viewed it from Georgia. It was AMAZING to know we viewed this once in a lifetime Totality, though we weren't in the path of it.

Saw the eclipse in Jonesboro, Arkansas. It was perfectly clear weather and absolutely gorgeous. Never to be forgotten! I got to see it with a group of fellow artists, so we were watching color and light effects as much as anything else.

I live in Springfield MO and we were just north of the best viewing possible, its nice that all mankind could rally together for a moment and just "be" and nothing else mattered for those few minutes, I think thats what I'm going to remember most. Amazingly in Austin and some other places from what i have seen cloudy yes then the skys parted. Eclipse was perfect and completely visible. After it was over, it closed up again. Just awesome, even took the day off to make sure i didn't miss something i waited for weeks to see.

Yup, can confirm. I was in Llano (NW of Austin) with my dad, and the low clouds cleared about 30 minutes before totality. Not two minutes after totality ended, it was completely overcast again.

We are so Lucky to live today. Know the things we know and revel in it. I have only seen a partial eclipse but after seeing this video plan to go to the North of Spain to see the total Eclipse at 12. Wow Dr. Tyson I am I'm tears. I cried when the solar eclipse actually happened too. I just felt so grateful to be able to be a part of such an amazing cosmic event. And you always make things so much more interesting and more valuable. I also realized we may not have been in the same state because I was in Ohio. But I was on the same earth as you were when that happened. I know it may not have been exactly the same time and maybe even a few hours apart. But I still got to watch the same cosmic event that Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson did. And that was something amazing I'm itself.

I live in Dallas, and yes, we had a very cloudy morning and afternoon. Minutes away from totality, the clouds were spread apart like an invisible jet came through to clear the sky. Perfect amazingly breathtaking experience. I'll never forget April 8,2024

I traveled about 350 miles from Midland/Odessa to Dallas to view the eclipse. Unfortunately, instead of remaining in Dallas proper for the eclipse, I chose to (try to) view it from SouthFork Ranch in Parker, where the exterior footage of the home life of the famous TV show "Dallas" took place. The clouds let us view all of the eclipse EXCEPT for totality, as the thicker clouds decided to start rolling over the view of the sun just about 5 minutes before totality began, and then they got thinner again just after totality!! I was SO bummed!!! The midday darkness was really neat, but to be denied a view of the best part felt rather cruel, especially when you all in Dallas proper got to view totality. Oh, well, it's neat to have the memory of being just a few feet from the famous SouthFork house during the eclipse, and then I got to tour it afterwards!

I also traveled to northern VT. I ended up 50 miles NE of where Neil was, in a little town called Orleans, 20 miles from the Canadian border. Clear skies and 3.5 minutes of totality! Awesome.

I was in Northern Vermont as well. It was just me, my wife, and our one year old son. It was the best moment of my life (and I saw the 2017 eclipse in South Carolina).

I traveled from El Salvador with my brother to watch the eclipse. Stayed with an aunt in houston waiting for the event and, as Neil said, the weather was not looking good, but for some reason I had faith in the city of Waco. The day of the eclipse traveled by car and the weather was horrible: cloudy, hazy, rainy, etc. But, later in the day, I swear that they were no clouds whatsoever in the city of Waco and I saw the totallity with sky blue clear sky. Also, shout out to the city of Waco, Baylor University, and the Lowell observatory for making it a beautifull event! Best day ever! ❤

To be honest, during the day of the eclipse, I was working. However, during a previous solar eclipse, I was watching it around the time of totality. I was remembering that particular memory while working. My particular area didn't likely have totality, as the sunlight dimmed once, around 11 AM. After that, the entire day was very bright. But watching it on screen, nearing the end of the video, put me in a few minutes of awe.
