Mr Tyson said nothing I haven't heard before, such as "think of all the great advantages modern medicine has brought about". Once again he trots out that fable without close scrutiny the actual data showing that clean water, clean air and good basic hygiene was the thing that brought about a better life expectancy and better public health. As the interviewer repeated the other stupid it's " claims that Hydroxychloroquine, and Ivermectin were effective treatments for Covid was dangerous" , Mr Tyson didn't interrupt him and say " You'd better check ALL the data from all the studies, which, apart from the poorly dosed study of relatively unhealthy people that gave them such high doses their kidneys shut down( using them to prove something bad with the drug), all the sound published studies showed these well used drugs to work well in the right sequences. Either he's unaware of this or as with his other points, chosen to promote the very thing he despises, unaware that it is "scientism". The interviewer was ignorant of the topic and was not fact-checked by anyone in his organisation, just repeating what he'd heard on some political medical press release. He has shown that he is just as easily led as those he belittled for not checking the facts. The reason for this is( he says) because the education system has failed to indoctrinate us into blindly accepting what someone says ( without evidence) as long as someone who is a celebrity scientist backs it.... wait that's not what he said but what he does on this tirade to promote his book; but any other creditable doctor molecular biologist, or cardiac surgeon would not even be granted access to such a big broadcaster as Aljazeera. Sorry if I misspelled. This news was all I could listen to, but it has descended into gutter press and sensationalism to allow such misinformation on the air, and all can say is "Tyson, try your own medicine.... check your facts and cited studies( that have been repeated when corrupted funding has somehow slipped through the "net") Not once in this interview did Tyson refer to multiple researches or cite a peer reviewed journal paper... nothing no evidence mentioned just a criticism of anyone not at his level of scientific celebrity. Guilty of everything he rails against he has no credibility. Tyson go back to the drawing board and check you own homework! (With respect.. I say only what I believe to be true... so don't dismiss my points without first checking the evidence, which is what you must do, rather than just believing someone YOU trust like the ( laughable ) CDC ! Check their PR, and see how accurate any of it is. Hope you return to science as well as celebrity.
