Hank Scorpio Eh, deathstar is way too big. Enterprise wouldn't have the fire power to destroy it. It's also too big to fly down conveniently located exhaust ports and hit it's one weak point. He makes sense. The only advantage the YT-1300 (aka Falcon) has is speed. It can maneuver much faster than the Enterprise, so if it could some how move fast enough to avoid being target locked, it could escape, but it couldn't hope to do damage to it.

He’s wrong about bb8 skidding around on sand. They used a real remote controlled robot as bb8 and he observably did not skid around on the sand. It’s weight was enough that friction wasn’t a concern. Going uphill on sand is a different story, but a relatively flat plain filled with sand isn’t an issue for a spherical droid to maneuver.

+Noblesseux Through looking at your comments on other chains, I believe you are mistaking the Deathstar(s) with Starkiller Base in the newest movie. Starkiller base needed to take in energy from the nearest star, and therefore needed to charge for longer, but had a longer range and could split it's beams. The Deathstar however, was self sufficient when it came to energy, and only needed a few minutes to charge. And although it was never shown, the Deathstar could likely rotate on it's own to some degree.

When george lucas wrote star wars he was just trying to make a good movie. Not compare it to everything else like star trek does. Fact is, all george lucas has to do is write a star wars book and having a crazy unbeatable ship into play with new technology never heard of. Its that easy. Just words in a book changes everything. Could even make up a new character thats more powerful then Q. But the fact is, that would ruin the movie. Also, star trek is a series, not movies so they always have to come up with something new which means it becomes almost godlike invincible in the end. (Like making up the character Q...)

The Falcon is about 65ish meters in size. The 1701-A was 350 meters. The D was 600-something. I am a Star Wars nerd as well as a star trek fan...yes, we DO exist....even I know the Falcon couldn't win the fight. But It would be able to survive it. It has some of the strongest plot armor of any spacecraft. I mean, there's been how many Enterprises, because they keep getting destroyed?

I think it mostly stems from boredom and peoples inability to disconnect from their beloved show, movie, comic or book. I also think NDT loves thinking outside the box which is his main appeal but when it's applied to science fiction it comes off way too pedantic. People want to suspend their disbelief when watching a movie, not revel in it. On the other hand people should be less sensitive and never get angry about a work of fiction unless your'e directly involved.

I know this is a year old all these comments, but like, dude, there have to be celebrity scientists or else the scientific field gets no attention, and people who have interests in these fields, has no one to look up to and point to as a marker for their goals in the scientific world. But even then though, Neil is an actual scientist, who published findings, research, and is still working in his field, but the reason he has become so famous and is a "cheerleader" in science is because he does things like podcasts, conventions, and talks to famous people and to the news to promote science and scientific research. In sports, cheerleaders are used to keep the fans interested, and motivated when things look bleak and hyped when things are going real well, so science can use figurative cheerleaders to promote science and studies so that the public can have common knowledge of the field, be more interested and motivated as new things are published, so that eventually some of the public would join and accept science more, creating a better society as a whole in advancement. He isn't attention-seeking, just famous because he specifically wanted to talk to the public about science and explain its processes and show them the wonders that it has, and was made famous by the public, not by himself. The entire reason fanboys jumped on him was because people asked him to talk about it, and to imagine the science behind these fiction works. If the public is keeping you in fame, without you doing anything except going along with it to promote something good, than that does not mean that you are a fame-obsessed celebrity. For someone thinking that they are so informed about the scientific community and what is good for it, you certainly did not seek your facts out, but instead provided opinions and bias, with no statistical data, research, or time taken out to learn if what you hypothesized was true. You have no right to speak on this issue, and claim that your opinion is a fact in this instance.

The Falcon is by far my fave of those two ships. That being said however, it would lose horribly to the Enterprise. One is a small-time freighter, the other is a major battleship. It's like asking which one would win in a fight: the General Lee or the Tumbler from Batman. They both have a high cool factor, but there is simply no contest.

To be fair, a better comparison would be a star destroyer vs the enterprise. Both have multiple large guns, both hold a huge number of occupants, both are kind of unwieldy, and both are capable of launching smaller crafts which are capable of moving freely independent of the main ship.
