I have listened to many versions of Cherry Cherry (all by Neil) This version displays the best change to hear Neil's guitar clearly. You can hear the down and up strumming pattern and the easy EADA chord progression. This is the pick for my first song to learn on guitar. I am getting it. I am 65, still having fun with this music.

@@RicOshayed1 Lots of fun. I probably have 1200-1500 hrs in after 2 years. I do suffer from trigger finger, carpal tunnel, arthritis, nodes on finger joints (look at Keith Richard's fingers, yuck) I met a woman (not like everyone thinks, give me the benefit of the doubt here, not all internet meets are bad) through a music site. I gave/sold/loaned her my Recording King RD-328 simply because she wanted to learn and did not have a guitar. I still have 3 other acoustics and my Roadhouse Strat). Things are working out. She will either pay me for the guitar after 2 years (800.00) or give it back. I think she keeps it,and pays. Life is too short to stay safe when all that you can lose is 800.00 (well and a friend.) I know this is risky but I will not be ruined financially.

I am 58 years old and Neil Diamond has been such an inspiration during my young life. From the songs "Shilo," to "Cherry-Cherry," to "Solitary Man," "I'm a Believer,"" I' Am, I Said "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon," "Crackling Rose," "Sweet Caroline,""Song Song Blue," "America," and so many inspirational others, it's about time Neil Diamond was finally inducted in the Hall of Fame in 2011. He should have made it in much earlier.

The fact that the Rock and Roll hall of fame ignored Neil Diamond for so long takes nothing away from Neil Diamond, as he is truly one of a small list of great song writers and performers. It does, however, take credibility away from them. Ignore them. They cannot make anyone better or take anything away from anyone. Instead, listen to the great musicians. It is time better spent.

You are totally right. He was one of the very best of that, and any, era. What a great songwriter and performer. In my hometown, Pittsburgh, PA, they would schedule him for one night in concernt. Each time, they ended up booking 3 or 4 consecutive concerts. That's how popular he was. Thanks for sharing. Again, great, great comment.

I saw Neil in concert in the early 70`s in Southampton and all these years later still consider it the most incredible musical experience ever, also think his early 70`s LP`s the best.
