I have always liked this album, and this particular song is the stand out song on the album, of which it takes it's title, it speaks of the journey of life before going to the sky, (death) of love, and all the trials and tribulations of relationships, it Also speaks of our place in life, and status, "Some people moving up, and some people standing still" and how each of us go through life in our own way. On the way to the sky, can be considered as a life quest, searching for fulfillment, and hoping one's life was worthwhile, it is a narrative of what most of us want from life, joy, happiness, and love. A good upload.

Difficult to comprehend how a product of Tin Pan Alley (a commercialised Pop music environment), was able to survive it and emerge like a Phoenix to produce the incredible body of work he has. The first song that I happened to hear in my life was i 1978 and it was Play me from the Hot August Night album. It shook me and found it very difficult to come out of the effect it created Thereafter I went in pursuit to buy his albums and as on today I have heard all his songs He is the most soulful singer one will ever hear and his diction, voice and style is incomparabke, whatever and however one may argue against it. Heard this song on the radio a couple of times back in 1971, and I was hooked. I listened intently for the name of the singer and the song, and then headed out to my nearest music store. On arrival at the store, I discovered that this, to me then, unknown singer, had two albums (LPs). One was 'Sweet Caroline' and the other was 'Stones'. I then did something that I had never done before... I purchased not one, but both albums, my purchase being made solely on having heard only one song from this singer. This song so moved me..._ _"... I got an emptiness deep inside and I've tried but it won't let me go..."_ _The pain, the tortured cries. This was even more evident in 'I Am... I Said (Reprise)'. Neil's voice, his sincerity and pain, tugged at my heartstrings; he touched my soul. I felt his loss, his pain, for I too, was experiencing those emotions (The story's the same one).
