Superb! One of the best love poems ever written. One of the best songs ever sung! And sung with every nod and wink, and facial expression that communicates its meaning so personally...as few are able to achieve. Thank you Neil Diamond for so much love!

If this song speaks to you and you are experiencing what it says...so am I. I am hoping to find someone who can share a journey of love, and pick each other up from the stones. I post here my comments about this special song: Superb! One of the best love poems ever written. One of the best songs ever sung! And sung with every nod and wink, and facial expression that communicates its meaning so personally...as few are able to achieve. Thank you Neil Diamond for so much love!

@@charyavina6279 Chary, thank you for your reply. Not sure where you are in life right now...but, if you wish, we can stay in touch. I am a 59 year-old man and have a lot to offer. (Yes, older than you.) If not, I will delete this comment to save any difficulty for you. Again, thank you for comment.

Mein absoluter Lieblingssong seit 40 Jahren.

His voice has aged, but this song, among all the others, never ages. "You and me/a time for planting/ you and me/a harvest granting me every prayer, ever prayed/for just two wildflowers that grow."

For me, this song represents the heart of Neil Diamond. First time I heard it, I loved it. It became the song I would sing to the first girl I loved.

. . . You are not alone in that respect ... For some unknown , unexplained and unattainable reason ' S t o n e s ' has always affected me so . I was there this evening at The Greek on the 25th August 2012 ... never thought I would hear this uniquely Neil Diamond song live - I had not in my previous 25 N.D. concerts over 35 years ... And there it was , tears an all . No one but he could have created such grace , beauty and mystery in a ' s I m p l e s o n g ' .

Because, the stone had deep wounds but refused to bleed, when the clouds saw this they turned red.

Neil starts to sing, but the camera is still 3000 feet away. No matter, by the third line he's not even singing, he has to speak the words. Oh well. And why was it called "Hot August Night One Hundred and Eleven?"
