5 years ago, a girl at my high school passed away. Her name was Caroline. I never actually knew her, but she was very popular at our school and evidently had many friends and teachers who loved her. When she was on life support, they played this song at the football game no doubt as a tribute. When Caroline left this world the entire school’s vibe changed. It felt like everything had turned into monochrome. We had previously lost another student named Ried that summer, so having another death was just unthinkable to us as high schoolers. I guess as teens you don’t really think about mortality as something that can happen to you, because most teens don’t experience the death of someone close in age to them. R.I.P. Caroline, you impacted us in more ways than anyone will ever know, even the ones you couldn’t see. Your friends, the CHS alumni.

The bartender was a nice Hispanic man who served free sodas and beers. The entire mood was *i don’t give a shit about what my problems are, this moment is all that matters* This song has always made me feel happy even in the darkest of times. Fun fact: I once knew a girl in my sophomore year of high school, we weren't that close but we were in a few clubs and classes together. One day I was thinking back at that time and I realized I forgot her name cause we never saw each other again after that year. I sat for ages trying to remember her name, but came up short. I said fuck it and moved on with my life. Until one morning I had this song stuck in my head and at that second the dots connected and I was like "Oh, so that's her name."

I’m nearly 17 and I listen to mostly old music. But when I was little when I would stay at my grandparents house my grandma and I would listen to music on her computer. This would be one of them. I would dance around and laugh when they said sweet Caroline because her name is carol. I just came back to this song last week and sang it to my mom and got it stuck in her head Lol! But i brought it up to my grandma and we had this song in our heads for the rest of the weekend. There was a joke that started between us and the family last summer where we called her carolinee. We remembered that this weekend to. So now she’s my sweet carolinee.

Not sure if anyone will see this but I figured I had to get this off my chest: About a month ago I was on a cruise ship and during the last night I stood on a ledge that went over the ship. I highly contemplated suicide that night but something told me not to do it so I didn’t. After getting down and walking around the ship a few times my mind told me to go upstairs and I stumbled across a karaoke bar. It was teen karaoke so I didn’t see any other adults (I’m 20 btw). I sat down and watched the kids get along singing and having a good time. Me and one guy sat down talking about the types of music we enjoyed. Suddenly, a girl came up to us and said “You two gonna sing or just sit there looking bored as fuck?” My first reaction was to curse at her, but she was young. After a few minutes it came to me that maybe I outta let a little loose after what had just occurred previously. That’s when Sweet Caroline came on and there was something so comforting about this song I enjoyed despite never sitting down and actually listening to it. I got up, sang along, and had a great time. After a few more songs Karaoke was unfortunately over. I went over to the girl from earlier who approached me and the other guy (who just so happened to be friends in her group) and thanked her for her words. If not for her I wouldn’t have enjoyed myself as much as I thought. Later that night me and my two new friends hung out with a large group of the people in the karaoke bar elsewhere. It felt like a movie and now coming back, as I listen to this song I’ll forever be grateful for each and every one of those teenagers. They taught me a lot. Especially about getting out more. I hope they’re all doing splendidly, may God bless them. Sweet Caroline💛
