Let’s not forget that Mr. Presley’s show’s hardly ever exceeded one hour; Mr. Diamond’s only began r e d u c e to around two hours in the last decade of his performing career. At his peak - 2:45; no ‘guffawing’, no talking about nothing in particular for minutes between songs; no juvenilistic ‘karate’ kicks and associated nonsense. Oh, and by the way, Mr. Diamond wrote both words and music to almost all of his concert repertoire. As Elton John stated : “ I only write the music - I have no idea just how someone can do both “. What he meant, specifically was to write both to a very high standard … ‘standards’ indeed in the making.

. . . Do you think-?.. Mr. Presley, ‘stage time’ : under ONE hour … Mr. Diamond concert duration : Almost THREE hours - at his peak, TWO hours as an minimum; with none of the guffawing and talking about not-very-much, lasting minutes between songs. Two very different styles.
