About 20 years ago as a young expat kiwi in London, I was walking near Regents park with my (Swedish) girlfriend and crossing the road was a man I recognised with his wife and two young sons... I was trying to clue my girlfriend in to who it was in a subtle way... But I was saying 'Look it's Tim' when of course I meant Neil... I guess Split-Enz and Crowded House weren't as popular in Sweden as Roxette and the like so she had no idea what I was on about... These young bearded men must be those two young boys... How time has passed... The Swedish girlfriend has two teenage boys herself now... not with me though... Thanks for the music Neil! You're a legend!

There’s a line in this song that goes “I don’t pretend to know what you want, but I offer love”. I’ve said this in so many different ways to my wife, trying to get her to understand just how much I adore her and only want to make her happy. We’re now separated and getting divorced despite my desperate attempts to save our marriage. It kills me that she’ll never believe just how much I loved her.
