Found his voice, but doesn't go far enough. He addresses a lot of the key problems, but stops short of the root cause and then offers no solutions. Key problem is the social system - the socio-economic system that is debt-based, promoting competitive self-interest, control and exploitation of others. A system that is oriented around market efficiency not technical efficiency. This is the key problem, and a possible solution is, well, to fight for a better system via collective movement of people who demand better and are willing to build it. A viable system alternative in which we would not be born into labor-for-income slavery. A system where community actually means something. A Natural Law rather than Man's Law system. A resource based economy, rather than a resource overshoot, biodiversity destroying monetary-market economy.

@@QuePasaUSA You mean Common Law for marriages?
@coolioso8082 жыл бұрын
@@QuePasaUSA This seems like a 'save yourself - screw everybody else' approach. This may not be your intention, but systemically that's just not feasible for most people to do that. Lots of major expenses come out directly on people's credit cards or even direct withdraw from their bank account, there is only so much they can just pay in cash and it would be low priced items anyway. You could say transfer all your money to Credit Unions instead of big banks, that would be fine, but again, not everybody is going to be able to do that. You say support small business, but some towns and cities there are hardly any small business left to support. Wal-Mart might be the only place to go in town and Amazon might be the only place online that has what someone is looking for at a price they can afford. You see, it is not the 'government' that is the problem here, they are just playing the game that everybody else has been born into and that game is market capitalism. Everybody is trying to economically out-compete, out sell and exploit other people so they can get ahead, profit and save money. The incentives are built right into the system for encouraging profit maximization, monopolizing the market, influencing politicians and government policies regardless of the social and environmental impact of these actions. In the name of an 'infinite growth' economy, we are creating sociopathic monsters. Billionaires pretty much need to be sociopaths on some level to exploit and oppress so many people on their way to the top and then while sitting on the top with so much money/power to improve lives, they instead prop up the system that got them their and try to build rockets to go golfing on the Moon. The culture is sick because the system is sick. Whatever individual actions you want to do are not going to be enough to change the trends for most people. So, I don't know if you are intending to care about a better world for others or you are just trying to protect yourself- if that is the case, then your suggestions will probably do fine to help you out. Sadly, the vast majority of people will not be helped unless we are willing to accept the truth about the toxic system and move to change it to something that is actually sustainable.

LD, I felt the same instincts as you did about 6 months into the covid saga. E mailed my MP (Tory) to express concerns about the collateral damage of lockdowns/restrictions and how something that had never been tried before and thus not proven to work was deemed the only course of effective action. I urged him to read the Great Barrington Declaration that was formulated by notable experts in the field and supported by thousands of health professionals ( me being one). I also asked why the National Pandemic Plan that was top of the National Risk Register and 10 yrs in the making was jettisoned in favour of universal lockdowns. The Declaration was in fact very similar to the Pandemic Plan in it's response to an outbreak such as covid. His reply insinuated the Great Barrington Declaration was written by outriders who wanted to " let the virus rip". This showed he was wilfully misrepresenting the Declaration and it's authors credentials or had simply not read it. I, from that moment, decided that I could never trust anything they said on the matter and as time has passed the whole saga has steeped into a very dark and scary reality that still, far too many people, are oblivious to.

It makes sense for temporary installations of chargers. Running the high powered supplies needed for proper, permanent chargers costs a lot of money and at Glastonbury it has to be temporary. What they were doing was offering EV drivers a space to charge their vehicles for the weekend not trying to solve an environmental issue. The cost of £50 for a charge is ridiculous though, even the new high prices at public chargers aren't near that, more like £7 for a charge.
