To be fair, Peart would have done something much better than just copy/pasting Tom Sawyer over this. He came up with amazing fills and drum patterns specifically suited to any song he worked on. He was a composer of drums, not just a player, and he was a true master and musical genius.

Neil was way too good to ever even consider something like that. Lol. Neil was a true legend, a master of his art. Lars isn't a bad drummer, but he's driven with ego and Neil and his compadres never appeared to let their egos get in the way of becoming better in their craft. No comparison. Watching a metallica rockumentary is like purgatory compared to watching any one of Rush's. Different caliber

I went through a lot of anger and range with Rush and MetallicA. A lot of AC/DC as well. I was very angry with all the lies that Church attempts to mind-control people with. Attempting to convince people that Christians are correct when all their stuff is almost completely Pagan. I was molded well into Christianity, and then..I caught on to MetallicA. So much anger, rage...but I started with Rush first...in 1974.. I've maintained Rush in my life (2021)...where as Christianity and MetallicA have faded very much into the distance. Once in a great while I'll play some MetallicA, but nothing at all as I used to...I feel the music and tune away most of the lyrics, which is challenging for me..because lyrics are a big part of music for me. The Professor and Geddy crafted the lyrics so well to the music. I can understand why MetallicA were/are huge fans. If Neil had fully healed from his wife croaking as well as his Daughter, AND he'd become more clear in his quest for Inner Awareness...he'd have come through and delivered beyond writings. Clockwork Angles is very powerful, but like Dan Brown, he missed a so much important stuff. I'm not advocating Christianity - because I can't. I knew since I was really small that it's not accurate. I was really hoping Neil would grasp what I know. But...alas, he didn't...in physical. But since there isn't any R.I.P...something else "he'll" become part of. Rush, None of them, I agree, became "I'm THE Goodamn Best!" kind of Smile that James does so often. Ego is personality. Nothing more, but in our Western Culture it's own considered in an extremely negative way (Christian...also..). Rush has always been playful, more playful than most. That playfulness created by them as kept that honest about what they do. Plenty of songs about NOT becoming Prideful. Rush is the most genuine and caring band I knew. Joe Walsh is pretty close...though he still leans towards Christianity. I still respect him a lot, even though. :) Where are you? What State? I don't come across many females who get it about Rush. I'd sure enjoy changing that, even if only a little.

@@biblebadcopycatofcuneiform8210 I'm in Las Vegas. What exactly would you like to change exactly? Lol. My views on Rush, on Metallica, or Christianity? I never realized that the guys in metallica were influenced by Rush. I mean, Lars just came out a while back stating Bonzo was a better drummer? All I could say was again, not comparable. Bonhams career ended pretty early in Neil's career. Well, at least before Moving Pictures. I suppose if you wanted to compare the two in 1979.... I'd still pick Neil just because of his contribution to the band. Anyway! I was late to Rush and really only became a true fan in the mid 90s when I moved in with a couple musicians. One of them was a huge Rush fan and reintroduced them to me. I guess I always associated them as one of 'those' bands. The sex drugs and R&R guys. Full of egos with supermodel gfs. I was so oblivious. Plus I had just gotten clean and away from an abusive partner, who happened to be another huge Rush fan. It just left me in disgust. Luckily though, when reintroduced, I quickly realized that they were making music because it was their first love. And clearly, they weren't there to get chicks, considering only about 10 were at their shows (lol, jk, but still). Seeing them live, and realizing they don't take themselves too seriously, and that they are true friends, which showed everytime they played together, made me fall in love (especially when I saw Geddys little Stonhenge on his keyboards, lol). Their lyrics were thought provoking and inspired me to read more philosophy and yes, even Ayn Rand. Although I bought Atlas Shrugged, skipped it to read Anthem instead. Lol. Like a 900 page difference. I thuroughly enjoyed Clockework Angels. I read the book as well and still don't even understand how one goes about writing a book and also music and lyrics that move along with the story. It's really a masterpiece. I would also add, i would love to see 2112 written into a screenplay, but unfortunately, "we will rock you" really just stole the story of 2112 and made it into a Queen musical. I love Queen but damn, but the story told was 2112s story. That was a tangent, apologies!! So what exactly are you wanting to change? 😊

@@lvgelfling72 Hello. :) "I never realized that the guys in metallica were influenced by Rush. I mean, Lars just came out a while back staying Bonzo was a better drummer?" - Came out staying, huh? LOL with a smile. I...haven't been following any band much since Neil croaked. Never is an incredibly long time. Wink. Yeah, in "Beyond The Lighted Stage" Lars put a lot of emphasis on "huge" influence. Bonzo was pretty good, but I hadn't heard that. I sensed that Neil was near the end when he'd gone on his Ghost Rider ride..and when he came back, he Wasn't BACK to Neil. He was back for the band, hadn't really let go of his wife and daughter..and he continued to haunt himself. I was really, Really hoping he'd have some particular "Ahhh, haaa!" moments but steeped in some stuff from years past..it's very unlikely the personality will let go of that pain. Hence, creates some nasty outcomes. I left music for several years. MetallicA was ..or..Is...the much Darker versions of Rush. In the ability to go deep into descriptions of darkness and pain...and match the music with it. "One", "Master of Puppets" and some others were very, very good ("bad", hehe) for that. I was irritated when MetallicA went to Christianity...I signed them off, but then...that's what was so heavy in the background also. I think there are hugely fascinating contrasts between Rush and MetallicA. I just couldn't hand with MetallicA anymore once they went the deep misinformation way of "Lies, Lies, Lies, Liiiiiiiieeesss!" I enjoyed Bonzo a lot, Led Zeppelin was pretty good is you only listened to the music. The Bible junk hadn't bothered me at that time. I was still under the mind control of the cult then. I listened to Bono a lot when he played, really good. But you're correct, not the same as Neil. I knew there was something to Rush from "Rush", but when Fly By Night happened, Wwwwwoooaaahh!! HUGE difference! That just accelerated with each release. Neil ....was....Not the same as Any Other. Nor were Geddy and Alex... Some times I had some challenges knowing who a band is when playing through the radio, didn't happen often..but.. However, Rush...with 10 seconds...every time. "All I could say was again, not comparable. Bonhams career ended pretty early in Neil's career. Well, at least before Moving Pictures. I suppose if you wanted to compare the two in 1979...." - Yup. I've been a huge Rush fan since I was introduced but didn't become a "fan boy". I don't care for that kind of Idolization. Deep, deep respect and appreciation for The Stooges but not.."We're not worthy." stuff. Iccck...it's funny in Wayne's World but not in life. I've shaken Geddy and Alex's hands, and that's really cool to me. But slobber and suddenly not able to breathe, that's going too far. I don't really get into compairing too much. There's a fine-line again between being a huge fan and being a fan-boy, and though I'll entertain some of the fan-boy stuff, I keep that from going too far. I don't agree with Neil that we're all strangers. There's a reason why we can sense a kinship with people. We're not just pure randomness. Mystic Rhythms. I soooo wanted him to expand on that song. "I'd still pick Neil just because of his contribution to the band." - Absolutely agree. Rush became a family, not merely members. They didn't have any "I'm better than you." junk, they had integrity and real caring for one another. This is another reason why I've kept Rush in my life. "Anyway! I was late to Rush and really only became a true fan in the mid 90s when I moved in with a couple musicians. One of them was a huge Rush fan and reintroduced them to me. I guess I always associated them as one of 'those' bands." The sex drugs and R&R guys." - OOOhh, yeah......the stereotype. I left weed well before they did. Good for some insights but not very good for focus and deeper conversations or intensity. Rush has a great deal of depth, where most bands...well, don't. Rush was associated as a "Thinking Persons Band" and many women and girls in those times...weren't into doing that. Lots of shallow stuff and drama. Not my scene.. "Fill of egos with supermodel gfs. I was so oblivious." Plus had just gotten clean and away from an abusive partner, who happened to be another huge Rush fan. It just left me in disgust." - A huge Rush fan that was abusive?!!? Seems I've not been around the kind of Rush fans you have. I'm not Surprised, because of my very deep life experiences very, VERY little surprises me (but it still happens), but physical or mental abuse isn't something I've heard anything of with Rush fans. Hmm! Wellll...okay, pondering that for a moment. There are Rush fans that will get in your face Online or in some fora about the music and become highly "anal" (not in a good way) about them. So, Okay, I can see how some might be that way. I've really appreciated the Boys as they'd greet others and stuff with calmness and give particular looks when they disagree with someone...and not wanting to really over step... "Wish them well." per se. Yeah, LOL, sometimes a reintroduction can be the best to get the honest understanding of someone...or a Band. I'd have created a disgust about it also in my mind, too, had I been through that. Actually, I was, in a way.. An Ex of mine that was really into Rush was perpetually into deception...but was..subversive about it. After a while I caught all the descriptions like listening to a Preacher over time and noticing all the errors.

@@lvgelfling72 "Luckily though, when reintroduced, I quickly realized that they were making music because it was their first love. And clearly, they weren't there to get chicks, considering only about 10 were at their shows (lol, jk, but still)." - Grrrr....(hahaha) Yeah, I know..........I KnnOOOOowwwww...I'd peruse the audience and mostly it was GUYS. I'm not sure where luck fits into anything other than being a trope, LOL. I've very much enjoyed busting all superstitions I came across and playing with them for laughs for myself and others. I introduced a lot of women to Rush...but because they didn't have cheesy lyrics or chorus, and weren't about "Falling IN Love/I Hate Myself For Loving You" type songs, they didn't last - Pop music wasn't Rush, The Police, and so on. Intelligence + Intuition is where all fantastic relationships should connect at. Sex is best when you have a much deeper connection than just "Hehe, Hehe, Hehe, I'm so drunk!" Oiiii....*Eyes roll..* "Seeing them live, and realizing they don't take themselves too seriously, and that they are true friends, which showed everytime they played together, made me fall in love." - This is where I Became In Love with them...but didn't "Fall In Love"..(I understand your meaning) Actually, I could sense it after Fly By Night record/tape was released. Seeing them live, was the visual validation. Really good friendships are the foundations to creation of whatever we desire. When you have that, then you enhance one another..and you play very well together..and can smooth any bumps pretty quickly. Take NOTHING too seriously; honesty and playful are best. "Their lyrics were thought provoking and inspired me to read more philosophy and yes, even Ayn Rand. Although I bought Atlas Shrugged, I skipped it and read Anthem instead." - I have a huge collection of music I've D/Led AND bought..I don't have all the CDs anymore as I sold them, but before selling most of them I archived them in FLAC or APE lossless quality. Out of that pretty large collection, I play about 10% of it....if I play any. Rush...Was thought provoking. Neil, with Geddy's help, knew how to alter Neil's writings to be able to communicate depth. I had a very hard time with Ghost Rider. I came close a few times with not finishing the book. I'm not offended about anything, I don't consider anything to be awkward, and I have had to go to some pretty "dark" places in my life..and pull myself from them. Empathy can make it very challenging to finish a book. I've had moments like that with Stephen King also. Compassion is how we help ourselves to continue, as long as we do NOT apply Sympathy to anything...we can take on only the stuff that has substance, shake off the rest, and continue on without becoming jaded. I read Ayn Rand also, long ago...not really my way of living. I also read Karl Marks and....keep that stuff away from me!! High-end negativity.. Eeewwwk.. Anthem I enjoyed a lot. Double entendre. Neil is a massive inspiration to my own writing, to get past dyslexia, and often correct my own errors. English and grammar are a bitch when you have a strong form of it. Hmm...I'm not sure I would have decided to create such a passion for English and grammar if Neil.....hadn't become part of Rush. I probably would have risen out of the all the double negatives I used to speak with, so many years ago, but..the changes I employed would have been slower. "Lol. Like a 900 page difference." - Uh-huh!! But the number of pages aren't really the differences. "I thuroughly enjoyed Clockework Angels. I read the book as well and still don't even understand how one goes about writing a book and also music and lyrics that move along with the story. It's really a masterpiece." - I read that also. I do understand the creation. There's a musing with words, vibrations, meanings, and thoughts. Neil comes from a time when Cellphones weren't around, and he made songs about it. Before them, Cells, people considered much better and deeper how and what they wanted to communication. It's about structure. Structure is the best thing to abuse (playing with the abuse part from our pasts..some..) because it doesn't HELP anyone physically or mentally. You can restructure communication constantly, and alter it to get those different strings to vibrate well together...if 2 or more desire to do so. "I would also add, i would love to see 2112 written into a screenplay, but unfortunately, "we will rock you" really just stole the story of 2112 and made it into a Queen musical. I love Queen but damn, but the story told was 2112s story." - I adore Queen also, and I concur. It could still be done better. Maybe someone whom understands Rush WILL "We...Will...We...Will, Rock You..Be--tter!"?? "That was a tangent, apologies!!" - Apology waved away with a slow hang movement. You had content. That's another bit of change I want in my life. Conversations with content. Tangents usually mean the other is enjoying relaying something but ...has some history with being shut-down, or quieted. If there's content..I'm usually willing to engage. "So what exactly are you wanting to change? 😊 " - LOL. I'll see how the reply to this is before I go past what I've typed above. Grinning.

@@biblebadcopycatofcuneiform8210 I have attempted to reply a few times but keep getting interrupted. Ugh! I do not remember Lars being in BTLS, but i think i block him out. I already wasn't caring for Metallica and Lars with his jabbering and jaw and Stern being an instigator and RUSH hater, made that happen. I'm glad you agree with me on that. My dislike for Metallica is really just because of the documentary they put out like 20 years ago now. It waa truly depressing to watch. No fan wants to see their band arguing like bitches and whining and crying and going to therapy. It really took away from the music and it never came back. I am more of a Megadeath girl anyway. Honestly, Rush can do no wrong in my eyes. I love their old stuff, their synth stuff and their new stuff. I love that they cater to freaks and outcasts and that they have never allowed their egos fo get in the way of making quality music. They don't overpower eachother, and you will never see Alex come up and bump Geddy off the stage (Joe Perry to Stephen T a few years ago). I love that they are decent human beings and it shows in their live performances and in their albums. I guess, for me, Rush will always be to me, like the innocence of our 20s. The 20s love, all pure and innocent and so intoxicating. I love that their music can create an emotion without even knowng the words and I love that when i do listen to the words, it makes me look inward and cause me to become more aware and maybe even become a better person. I've never had a band do that to me. I love Led Zeppelin also but not to the same extent. I have mad respect for Page and Zeppelin because of the contribution to rock and they were ahead of their time. So was Sabbath. Honestly. I think Sabbath was almost too ahead of their time! My mini list of bands who are the reason Rock and Metal grew the way it did.. .. The Beatles, the Who, Police, Thin Lizzy,, AC/DC, Yes, The Doors, Janis Joplin, The Kinks, Yardbirds, CCR, and of course, Jimi. I would also probably add KISS just because they were the first band I ever got into and the first album I ever bought by myself. And of course Zep and Sabbath. I can really talk about my love of music all day everyday Nd never get bored. I'm sure my shortlist is missing a few but you get it I'm sure. By the way, where do you live?
