I was only able to see Rush in concert 3 times BUT one of them was in front row on the Test For Echo tour. My friend and I both had our eyes locked on Neil. It was really something to see him do what he does, up close for the whole show.

This man iZ the ONLY reason that I picked up a pair of sticks!!! After watching "Exit... Stage Left" when I waZ 15 years old, I knew I wanted to learn drums. Same story as you, only it was after I saw them live in 2010 on the time machine tour; and I personally know a kid who started playing in quick order after seeing one of the last shows on the R40 tour. That's how we come to terms with his death... because there's a thousand stories like this for every generation that saw them. You could say that about a lot of artists, but Neil in particular had a way of making people really fall in love with the music.

A huge fan of his since I was a little kid, as a "young adult" and non-reader of books, someone tuned me in to "Ghost Rider". I, perhaps oblivious, had no idea that he was even an author. I bought the book purely because he was one of my drum heroes. Twenty plus years later, I read every day. I'm even literally reading Ghost Rider for the third time. RIP Neil. They broke the mold.
