This was the last song Neil wrote with Howard Greenfield. It's about all of the legendary songs they wrote together.

My dad passed away in 1980 aged 55 . He’s missed so much , including my two children and my 4 grandchildren’. The words and that of Someone to watch over me by Russell Watson stirs my emotions always. Loved and missed. ❤️

Started to listen to Neil the other day, randomly came to my mind, and oh what joy, so many memories, that voice was brilliant. Spent so long crying both happy and sad tears for years gone by. What wonderful songs and performers we had in the sixties and seventies,so much to be thankful for xx

I recall taking my dog to the vet, and this was on the car radio, I was convinced it was goodbye to her, it was raining and I had the windscreen wipers on, and she was watching them go back and forth, never done that before, but at the vets he said I think when we are her age life will be so precious, she is ill but not so bad just take her home and look after her. I had her a few months longer, it was a precious time.

His voice takes me to my early, early childhood in South Africa, where my father would play this music. And sing it to me too. It stirs a pictureless memory, a feeling of safety and happy days. Always makes me cry, even though my father is still alive and well. I just saw him last month.

Neil was writing more and more with Phil Cody and less with Howie. This song and "Love Will Keep Us Together" were the last two Sedaka songs Howie wrote lyrics to ... both great ! I liked Phil ... but Howie was a GREAT writer and it was sad when Neil moved on ...
@jcjohnsong8570

Had it not been for Howie's mother who knew her son wanted to be a song writer ... told Howie to ask the boy in the neighborhood who was always practicing his classical piano if he would write music for Howie's lyrics ... Neil Sedaka may have never started writing in the first place...
@jcjohnsong8570
@jcjohnsong8570 3 жыл бұрын
If you like Howie's work ... He also co-wrote with Jack Keller in the 60s when Neil was too busy as a singer to write for other artists anymore. Keller worked with Greenfield on theme songs for Bewitched & Gidget and the pair co-wrote two number-one hits for Connie Francis in 1960, "Everybody's Somebody's Fool" and "My Heart Has a Mind of Its Own", as well as the follow-up "Breakin' In A Brand New Broken Heart". Keller and Greenfield also co-wrote Jimmy Clanton's 1962 top ten hit "Venus in Blue Jeans"; and ... "Your Used to Be", a chart hit for Brenda Lee. Just some of Howie's work you may not know was written by Howie

My all time favourite singer is another Neil, Mr Neil Diamond, but Neil Sedaka is from that same ouvre, a fabulous prolific songwriter, and a voice instantly recognisable, both Neil's are great friends, and both hail from Brooklyn New York, and both are prodigiously talented. It is a travesty that Neil Sedaka hasn't been inducted into the RRHOF, this isn't a mere oversight, it is a total dismissal of his immense talents.
