BAND AID - How the Money is Spent
In the financial year to 30 November 2024 Band Aid has awarded grants of £3m across 16 projects to date.
Activities in 2024 include:
Provision of life saving medicines and medical supplies
Access to basic healthcare for rural communities
Strengthening the support of health services in Tigray
Therapeutic food for malnourished children and vulnerable adults
Emergency grain supplies
Drought resistant crops
Income generating activities and vocational training
Construction of basic housing to support old and vulnerable people
Construction of emergency shelters for refugees
Provision of clean water and sanitation training across multiple refugee camps in Ethiopia
Training to prevent gender-based violence in communities
Hygiene and sanitation support for adolescent girls
Construction of schools and libraries, and provision of classroom furniture
Cash distributions for vulnerable households
Rehabilitation of boreholes and wells for schools and communities
School feeding programmes in Tigray to support children returning to education
The estimated number of beneficiaries totals more than 350,000 people.
Money raised from BandAid40 will continue to fund similar activities in Ethiopia and the surrounding countries.

wonderful history of this song.Ian Tyson early on attended art school in Vancouver.He wanted to be a rodeo rider but was injured.(His dad was English and was a polo horeseman)He met and fell in love with a fellow student. They parted, he to Toronto joining with partner Sylvia.She to the U.S. Their love for each other never waned, up to his death 2 years ago..He cast off music and became a cowboy in Alberta, The song was written to entice his love to join him.She said the ranch life was not for her.They continued to see one another.She is a woman who lives in the Okanagan British Columbia.

What a song. It never fails to move me, damn near to tears. What a singer! I have been lucky to have seen him in person once and the same comment applies. However, the most beautiful arrangement of this song, with appologies to Ian and Sylvia is Neil's collaberation with the late great Nicollette Larson. The same comment - in spades applies here also.

Oh my God. I'm happy and sad all the first time. I've never heard this song before tonight. I listened to the origin and then this version with Neil Young and his wife Peggy came on so I decided to watch It. It went right through me and left me with chills. After listening to it I was wondering whether or not Neil Young was still married to Peggy and came across Your comment that led me to the understanding that she was gone. My soul is broken now As I'm sure Neal's was and possibly still is. I have always loved Neil Young's music ever since I was a teenager. But now knowing that this beautiful lady is gone I feel sad. I pray she'll Rest well in Gods hands now...❤ 🙁
