My dad raised me on Neil Young. We always discussed the meaning of lyrics even when I was a little kid. When I was 10, 1989, he played this song for me and told me that he did one thing right in his life. Instead of having to search for someone with a heart of gold, he was lucky enough to be raising one. This was always our song. Today, we had to make the very hard decision to remove my dad from the ventilator that has been keeping him alive. I did not get a chance to say goodbye. I couldn’t make the trip across the country to be there so I asked that this song be played for him while he was passing. I love you dad.. I’m happy to know that you didn’t have to leave this earth without having found your heart of gold. 💛 🕊️ 💔

I'm 66 years old and when I listen especially to Neil Youngs music it not only transports me back to the 70s which I too had the best time but it serves as a testimony that those years were and will never be replaced as the best music ever written besides the time when Cole Porter wrote music!! I'm glad I had the opportunity to live my life during the 70s !! Music will never be the same!! Sorry to say but the music today and the singers and song writers don't even come close!! Thank you Neil Young Fleetwood Mac Carole King Carly Simon SimonGarfunkel and so many more!! Your all greatly appreciated to have produced outstanding music that will live on forever!!

Funny how a song can transport a person back to a particular time in their life in a split second. This song takes back to when I was a 23 years old man just starting a new life in Australia. In the blink of an eye I am now a 75 year old man and looking back over 50 years of life with very few regrets and feeling very fortunate to be still listening to and appreciating the magic of Neil Young's music. This song reminds me of our son, Brian, who was in a fatal car accident at the age of 26 on his way home from work. A farm kid just trying to make his way in this world. I didn’t have to search for a heart of gold…. He had one!! Brian’s mom, he’s forever 26, forever loved…. See you on the other side my son 💜 Edit - Brian knew Jesus, he knew the truth and the way. We are thankful for being his parents for 26 years, 11 months and 25 days + (9 months) 💟🛐✝️🛐💟 Your love prayers & thoughtfulness are appreciated, more than you know 🙇‍♀️

I remember my dad telling me about Neil Young every time we heard Heart Of Gold on the radio. Some time in the very early 90s, I must have been like 6 years old, he asked me what my favorite song was. I said "Heart Of Gold" and he laughed out loud and said "that's not a good favorite song for a six year old! I bet the other kids your age have very different favorite songs!" I nodded and kept it as a favorite until this day.

This song reminds me of when I found the love of my life, my wife Brit. She had a heart of Gold. I often listened to it as I fought for her love and the blessing of being together. She was murdered 20 months ago, but yet that golden glow of her golden heart lives on Foreverway in my heart.

"And I'm getting old". Heard this song for the first time when I was 13 or 14. Learned it on the guitar, bought an harmonica (in G), and sang this song at school in recess. Now it's been over ten years since then, more than that, and when I heard this song again those lyrics hit deeper than they ever did. Back then I didn't know what I was singing, I knew there was poetry in it, but some of it just went over my head. Crazy to think soon I'll be the same age Neil was when he performed this song. I wonder what else he knew.
