Neil and Stephen are just one of the great guitar duos ☺️ The communication and shared appreciation between them is remarkable.

I was lucky to take a friend and my young son to see them at the Red Rocks. Probably the last time they all played together. Was one of the greatest concerts ever, and I have seen over 1000. My one disappointment was they did not do Suite Judy, but the last 20 minute jam of Rockin The Free World made up for that.

I was watching this and halfway through realised I was there. It was a magical day, full of emotion. I had been working for Bill Graham as an usher at Shoreline and had met him a few times. This was a day for many, many artists to honor Bill, his wife and the helicopter pilot. Bill seemed very happy whenever I saw him in his last few years. I was a CSNY fan and they all play their hearts out here. Thanks for posting this!!!

Neil Young is an awesome Canadian musician. His style and voice are different and that is what makes him special.

But even though he is totally unique, there is also something as old as the hills in that sound of his voice, guitar and harmonica.

I was there. What a great day. This whole event was to honor Bill Graham and the the others that died in the Helicopter crash. The event was put together in record speed, so it was amazing there was a show at all. This is raw because it was raw. It was an emotional day.

Oh, my goodness... CSN&Y. One of the absolute best musical groups. Groundbreaking in ever aspect. Stills is a genius. I think David and the Jefferson Airplane's Paul Kantner wrote the lyrics. Such a moving and grim song about atomic war and a group of survivors. Brilliant.

Wow . That was absolutely awesome. I've never seen this ! .... I grew up listening to everything my older brother had, and so much of this band's music is part of my life. And you see, I'm a conservative (saw reality as I got older) and even though I disagree on a few viewpoints that probably all in CSN&Y have, I don't hold that against them. I love their music, and their place in our history. That , is the difference. I, am not a Marxist. I won't cancel someone for having a different perspective. But don't be afraid to rationally discuss them . If you shout at me , you've already lost a rational conversation.

Still dont get this thing about doing The Acoustic Session" when you been around a while or reuniting. For me, the sound is always thin without bass and drum kit, its like, lets do it, its more chilled and spontaneous. My thought is, its a fad. They have electric or electrified guitars and a massive PA system, what is the point. I've been around some time, and I still dont get it.
@Dreadtower3 жыл бұрын
There is an aesthetic that is unique to an acoustic guitar ensemble that some of us really appreciate though. It’s the sound of multiple plucked acoustic instruments which creates a particular ‘ambience’. Sadly, this is not the best example, taken from a period between that when there was no way other than often inadequate microphones and the current in which acoustic instruments sound pretty well ‘natural’. This belongs to the period between the two which was plagued by inadequate bass response and ridiculously metallic sounding treble as a consequence of the use, primarily, of piezo under-the-saddle pickups.

Yeah, well this "acoustic session" sounds out of key, etc. They are one of my favourite bands. In my opinion, you got to be tone deaf and mute to believe that this is anything but what it truly is: Amateurish

Debes evaluar la edad que en ese momento tenian. No se tu edad, pero si eres joven vale la pena que te veas al espejo y 35 años despues te vuelvas a asomar y compares, entonces te daras cuentas y podras emitir una opinion con mas respeto.

No comparison with the 1982 version from the "Daylight Again" concert/DVD. What a negative difference 10 years makes. The "Daylight Again" version is electrifying. This version is embarrassing.
@jackmalvern57043 жыл бұрын
Totally unfair comparison. "daylight Again" was a tour with a fully rehearsed band {Mike Finnegan and George Perry plus others}. This was thrown together to honor Bill Graham. CSNY probably hadn't even spoken to each other until they got the call to do the show. You're comparing apples and oranges. Making a great performance is magic, magic takes time, something CSNY had little of before this show. And as far as ten years later goes, Let's see how you look and sound ten years later. Absolutely nothing wrong with this performance.
@danr51053 жыл бұрын
@@jackmalvern5704 Hello Jack. About time and my favorite group of musicians (CSN-Y) I probably don't need to post a link to the 1974 concert at Wembley (not that you were there, just you must have viewed it.) The cut I like is "Love the One Your With" Even with mic problems for Steven the guys nailed the song (minimal production, no "Daylight Again)This age thing gets to us all. I try and play acoustic (I started 2 years ago at 64) I am thinking I keep improving till about 70 then the age thing plateaus me (arthritis.)

@@danr5105 I saw CSNY at Atlantic City Race track in 1974 in what CSNY called the doom tour. Ive seen the you tube of The Wembley show is quite reminiscent of that show. At least from what I can remember. lol

@kahlesjf Жыл бұрын
Well, you may be among the few, because he is listed on Rolling Stone's top 100 guitarist's at #17...30 places ahead of Stephen Stills at #47 according to over 50 great guitarists, including Stephen Stills. Take a look at his live performance of "Like a Hurricane" recorded in 1982 in Berlin, released on VHS in 1983...You may come to the conclusion that, in this case, "weird" is good.

I'm so glad Neil Young and Crosby, Stills, and Young split. Young couldn't sing in tune nor could he keep his guitar in tune with the others. He wrote some very good music but could NOT keep up with the true professionals. There were only a few times Young could add to C.S.& Y.
