Debating on making bacon right now... 10 min after midnight and I'm 172 hours into a fast ... But I have to find the perfect food... I've never made it past 5 days so now, being past 7.... I'm struggling to find what in the world I want to break this fast with... Any ideas? Thinking about cabbage and bacon... Since it's still keto... But also have a couple huge chucks on the ready, lamb, ribeye, and a ton of grass fed burgers... Don't know if I want to stay zero carb or have a handful like that cabbage ... Lost about 16 pounds in these 7 days ... I want to keep fasting but I am getting pretty hungry and fairly weak ... Ahhhhhh... Still to undecided too eat.... Great video

@@DaBurghSteelers I've done hundreds but never past 5 days. And the 5 day fasts I ate several pounds of red meat with no issues. This was just more me watching tons of food videos 1. Because I'm hungry and 2. Because I'm an obsessive over planner but usually that means junk food binges. So I'm trying to at least eat real food and not binge. I definitely struggle with it. I'm dry brining a large chuck now. So I'll probably eat that but I still don't know what I'll eat it with... As long as it's not junk food I'll be happy 😂😂

Okay, I have seen this video several times and just tried it tonight. My Lord, what took me so long? This is the BEST method I have ever used for cooking bacon. The bacon was fantastic and I have never cooked so much bacon so quickly, and never seen such a small amount of mess/clean up afterwards. I sure wish I had a Dr. Berry near me. My doctor told me again today that my cholesterol was a bit high, so I came home and had bacon and eggs for dinner. She said it was because of my high fat ketogenic way of eating. I told her I was 58 and never felt better in my life. 🙌🤷♂️😂

I have a coconut oil capuccino every morning, and that makes my overall cholesterol and my LDL (bad) cholesterol numbers high. So 2 weeks before my annual checkup labs I replace the coconut oil with extra virgin olive oil -- and my numbers are all beautiful again.
@doughooks74113 ай бұрын
@@nativeceltbirdog1527 I actually had a follow up appointment with my doctor two weeks ago. Same doctor. More bloodwork because my cholesterol numbers were a bit high last time. This time, I had lost 4 lbs. I am 6’2” and 180 lbs. wearing 30W X 34L pants and will soon be 59 y/o. My blood pressure was 101/71. She wouldn’t say it to my face, but put in the notes that my cholesterol numbers were looking much better and to keep doing what I was doing. So, I had a big ribeye for dinner that night, and more bacon and eggs for breakfast the next day. 🎉 BTW, She is in her early 30s and about 30 lbs overweight. Maybe I should be HER doctor. 🤷♂️

I used to eat a pound of ribeye steak every day at lunch but noticed that I was getting hungry at night and needed something to hold me over. I also noticed how expensive eating steak was. At Sam's Club in my area, it was almost $15 a pound. Frying up bacon in a pan was a pain, so I refrained from doing it. Then, I discovered your method, and that has changed EVERYTHING for me. I buy 4 pounds of bacon at Sam's for $24 dollars and eat one pound per day, usually all in one sitting. The amazing thing is, I now have absolutely NO cravings for any additional food at night, making my 23-hour fasting sustainable and enjoyable. Whenever I would need to eat at night I would feel guilty for not having the discipline to fight the hunger cravings, but now...yep...no guilt. I recognize that it has nothing to do with discipline. Rather, it has everything to do with giving my body the necessary ingredients to keep it satisfied. Thank you, Dr. and Mrs. Berry.

This is how I’ve made bacon for years, only I start it with a little water in the bottom to first boil/steam render the maximum amount of fat, prevent burning, and improve the crisp texture of the finished product. Nice one! Over here in Croatia we mostly make chvarci (čvarci) in a similar way. Deskin the firm pigs fat, cut it in cubes and cook it on medium until they shrink and get golden brown color. After that if one likes extra crispy we put it in a press and squish the fat out. Of course fat is collected and stored to use with everything. It is similar to chicharrons but no skin and no meat, because meat gets to hard to bite in that procedure. Meat goes to sausages. And with skin I make pork rinds or add pigs feet an d head and cook it low and slow. After it cools down it gelatins, and we eat it like cold dish. One can put eggs inside or any vegetable.

Excellent! I just discovered (accidentally- I couldn’t find the splatter screen, so just grabbed a solid pot cover) the “no messy stovetop” trick a few months ago myself... but have never even considered cooking the entire package all at once, in a pot. Thanks so much for sharing- You have successfully shifted your viewers’ paradigm concerning cooking bacon!😃

Interesting. I would never have thought of making bacon this way. I have been making bacon in the oven for quite some time now and it comes out super crispy. I might have to give this a try.

I love cooking my bacon in the oven too. I don't have to hover over a hot stove constantly checking on it. I love using my ceramic baking sheet to bake it in and the bacon comes out nice and flat and no splatters over the stovetop either!
@TheKiwibirder3 жыл бұрын
Love it! No mess, and the deeper layer of rendered fat allows you to get the bacon crispy without any of it blackening and leaving charred bits in the grease.

I've been cooking bacon on a big shallow baking pan for years, but this looks so much easier and neater. Definitely going to try this with my next package of bacon. Thanks for the "hack", you two! By the way, your new kitchen looks great! 😊🤩

That's how I cook my fatty beef too. In a deep pot. I got tired of grease ruining my clothes and kitchen. ( I'm too lazy to wear an apron). Bacon on a sheet pan lined with foil in the oven is also good. I use the foil to create a funnel to poor off the bacon grease into a mason jar. I still love watching y'alls bacon curl in the fry daddy video.

Love the cute little bacon grease container. Was just looking at similar ones on Amazon, but for now, I'm just gonna use a mason jar because I'm cheap, and I'm gonna buy a small strainer in case I need to strain out small particles. Great tip on frying bacon ... seems SO MUCH easier!

Definitely going to try this! I bake mine in the oven @ 425* covered with a sheet of parchment paper but it still gets grease all in the oven. This may just be the answer to no more greasy mess! Thank you for sharing! Chef’s kiss on this for sure!

I always cook up a pound of bacon, cut into 1/2 “ pieces. Save the grease and keep the rendered bacon bits in a dish in the fridge for salads, sandwiches, whatever. So delish!

Great advice on the deep pot but I would wear 2 oven mitts as well to avoid all the painful splattering. I would also do this at a lower heat to avoid burning or going to over crispy and avoid having to stir it so often. The bacon fat and steam will do the job just fine once you get going. ;) Thanks for sharing.

Oh my word, I've been wanting to eat more salads, I've been racking my brain on what to use to make a crunchy taco salad without corn chips, and pork skins were okay, but crispy bacon chips look like the answer to my dilemma. I can't wait to try. Thank you. I'm T2D, 390lbs, in 1 ½ months of keto, I've lost 20lbs so far.

I love it, I've always cooked my bacon crispy and I cut the packs in half. Never thought of cutting it in quarters but I will be trying that the next time. I keep waiting for someone to mention what we've always called rumaki (guessing at spelling) which is chicken livers wrapped in bacon and then baked until crispy. Great!!!!! Appetizer and snack.

Omg, ha! I thought I was the only one. I cut mine the same way. 4 cuts! Great minds think a like😁! However, I cook mine in a black skillet in the oven. So freakin crispy. I will try it your way to see which I like best! Thanks for sharing. I appreciated ya'll! 🥰

You know I never thought of putting my skillet in the oven. That would be another great way to make bacon. Can any normal skillet go in the oven say at 3:50 for 20 minutes? Normally what I have done is put a piece of tinfoil down on a cooking sheet and baked it that way. So I hadn’t been saving the bacon grease. But I will now.

I’ve been making it this way for a couple years now after trying to figure out a better way than the stove (messy) or the oven (always burns). I cook a couple pounds at a time, under cook it just a little and keep it in the freezer then take out a portion at a time and heat it in the microwave or stove when I want some. I’ve been doing smaller chips (more like bacon bits) but now thinking I need to do bigger chips. 🥓 🤤

I bought a piece pottery it looks like a cup! It is made for bacon to be put over the sides and then it drains down inside the cup in around the cup and it makes very crispy bacon! After taking off the bacon you can pour the grease into your container you save on the stove! I bought it in Branson, Mo.

Love this idea. I got bacon that was off-the-scale crispy! Many many thanks. One reason for making it is that I needed crispy bacon as a garnish for guacamole. At the start, I had an issue where the water in the bacon (I live in the UK) needed to be boiled off before the frying could properly begin.
@janosistvan52262 ай бұрын
That works also... I use big and good quality shears to cut the bacon, but then I air fry them, but it's always good either way. Frying is very messy when not covered. Low sodium bacon BLTs are my favorite too and a tasty salad topping as well.
