I must say this is probably one of the most simple and organized podcast I have ever seen and I LOVE IT!! 🥰

I am so happy to hear you talk about crochet! I would consider myself an advanced-intermediate crocheter but a baby beginner knitter, so it's always fun to hear about crochet. I also got the modern crochet sweaters book for Christmas and cannot wait to start one of them. I just can't pick which one! And Toni is amazing for Tunisian crochet. You've probably already bought your hooks, but if not I just wanted to let you know that the only metal Tunisian crochet hooks that I'm aware of are from Sewrella yarn. I cannot stand crocheting with wood hooks, and my plastic Tunisian hooks are tolerable, but still slow me down. My birthday is coming up and I hope I get the Sewrella hooks lol

In my opinion, the ruffled blouse with the buttons down the back is absolutely stunning on you!! You really need to re-evaluate parting ways with it even if it isn’t your taste right now, but maybe in a couple years it will be again. It’s an amazing sweater! if you do decide to sell it, please put me first on your list! Seriously!!

Thank you. You have opened my mind up to possibly trying crochet. Also socks, which i haven't ventured into yet. I enjoy your clear presentation. Are you a teacher by any chance?

I'm glad to hear that, and thank you! I actually am not a teacher - I work full time as an engineer!

The Jenny stretchy bind off looks better when you do it in reverse, so going the wrong way, mending the little gap with yarn end.

I agree. In addition, I don’t always do it on every stitch. I’ll try it for an inch or two. If it flares too much, I’ll decide how often I want the extra yarn.

One of your videos came up as an autoplay and I am so glad! I had your videos playing while I was working today and heard you say you are a lefty knitter! I'm a lefty, too, but I taught myself to knit right-handed for lace patterns years ago and have converted myself to a two-way English style knitter. So convenient for knitting flat pieces and preventing repetitive stress!
@neknits2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! I have just recently gotten into charted knitting and it's been my biggest challenge as a left handed knitter. It's tempting me to learn right handed, and it sounds so useful for flat pieces!!

What a fun episode!!! thanks for sharing all your projects and acquisitions. I also got a ball of the limited edition Sock Ease and I love how the short stripes are working up. I remember buying Sock Ease in Joanns when I first started knitting and I found the socks scratchy and hard to wear haha but now I'm much more used to wool and it feels nice. I love your book selection too. I would love to make my first crochet sweater sometime soon as well and I love Janine's patterns. :)

Another wonderful podcast! I love seeing what you are making. I am just a few rounds from finishing my first pair of socks, the DRK Everyday Socks by Andrea Mowry. I also used 2.5mm but i would rather have a tighter gauge so for my next socks, i had to order some new 2.25mm needles to attach to my interchangeable cables and i ordered 2.25mm, 9” circulars. I use magic loop for the toe and then change to 9” circs for the rest. 😊

I’m knitting the Belleterre which is another half fisherman’s rib cardigan. My yoke was short too but fortunately it had the yoke measurement so I continued knitting more rows to get to the correct measurement instead of the expected number of knitted rows. I didn’t think I would like knitting the half fisherman’s rib but I actually find it rather fun. The thick wool helps.

I was just looking at the Modern Crochet book online!! Her pieces are so beautiful. I made my first crochet sweater and I would recommend the Fall Pullover Sweater by Wannipa Yunker. Its fingering weight the instructions are so clear and beginner friendly and I loved it so much I am making a second one.

From what I've read, there's nothing illegal in selling FOs even if the designer asks people not to do it. And even if it's not illegal but you still wanna respect the designer's wishes, I believe there's absolutely nothing wrong in selling an FO you've made for yourself but don't wear anymore. In that situation, the way I see it is: You wouldn't buy a sweater from the store with the intention of reselling it to someone else, but you'd totally resell a sweater you bought in the past and haven't worn or don't wear anymore, especially if it's still in great shape. I think this is just common sense and would apply to knitted items.
@neknits2 жыл бұрын
That makes sense, thank you for the insight!

Hardest thing about hand dyed yarns is that by the time I see fiber artists with the yarn and I want it, the color way is no longer available 🙃 I believe Sewrella has unscented wool wash also so you could try that if you’re not really into scents.

I love how your Shift cowl turned out! I started the night shift quite awhile ago and lost interest due to all the loose ends. It doesn't look like you have any; can you share how you tied all the ends together to look so professional? TIA
@neknits2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! There was a good amount of ends to wave in at the end, so I just sat down one evening and did them all in one go. I made sure to weave the ends through full stitches and not the small floats in hopes that they won't pop out as easily!
@joyceh.3662 жыл бұрын
@@neknits Thank you for your reply back! You inspired me to finish the Nightshift, and so glad I did. I just finished it yesterday. I was surprised how easy it was to weave all the ends through. It actually looked pretty clean. Happy knitting!
@yenthompson94712 жыл бұрын
You can sell the finished object. It’s just impolite if the designer specifies that they don’t want you selling FOs but that’s only targeting towards manufacturing for the purpose of making a profit. But if you are “destashing” a sweater then it’s not really anyone’s business.

That makes sense to me, thank you for the insight!

If you want to try a differnt stretchy bind off on your next toe up or bottom up project, I like the Russian bind off. I'll start with I am a pretty tight knitter, so stretchy bind offs can be tricky for me, but I really like the Russian bind off when I have a project that ends with any kind of ribbing. It still has a bit of a "wave" like JSSBO, but I find it creates a bit less of a loopy look. I've used it on both pair of my DRK Everyday socks and have been super happy with it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5u3p2hohZmHnac
