I had a friend waaay back when variegated yarns were new. She made a sweater and wound up with pooing that looked like the Rocky Mountains just west of Colorado Springs where we lived. Everyone asked her about the pattern, but she would reply, "I could never duplicate this. It's just the way the yarn came out." There is a way to unravel your yarn to the color you want and "force" it to pool, but it's way to complicated for me.

I once took a class on how to tame yarns that have a tendency to color pool. It was helpful. The teacher emphasized making the garment a textured knit with knits and purls.

So many WIPs! I can't wait to see when they're all finished! And the socks look so nice but I agree that I liked the spiral pattern better than the ones that had the vertical pattern. But they both look great regardless :)

So glad youtube showed your channel for a suggestion. Love seeing all your lovely knits. Thanks for all the details for your projects, the info is very helpful . I've knitted toe up socks for soo many yrs and followed earthstones girl podcast for a shadow wrap heel that's a good fit for me ; she knits cuff down with pretty stripes . Your socks look really good with the pooling. Looking forward to your next podcast 😊

I had the exact same pooling situation on my first pair of knit socks (one sock had vertical color sections, the other had more striped/horizontal sections). So fascinating! I’m still not sure how that happened😅 But I’m glad to know I’m not alone!

I agree exactly with where you are coming from with the slipover fit thing! I also can only really envision myself in an oversized slipover with wide shoulders. Nevertheless, you look great in your finished slipover :)

I knitted myself a crew neck jumper in Rowan Tweed 2 years ago. I have sensitive skin and always wear a long sleeved Tee under wool/alpaca garments. I found the Rowan Tweed quite scratchy, especially around the neck. However, after about 4 washes I’ve found the yarn has softened considerably and no longer irritates my neck.

I like the spiral sock because it looks like ⚡ 😀. I just searched slipovers and queued one from petite knit. I love vests

If you can try knitting one more sock. Take note of how it stripes or pools and then match it to one of the completed socks. Do it as an experiment. Also where do you get your sock blockers, if I may ask.

Fantastic episode ! Love your petite vest on you! I am waiting for some ordered wool to come in so I can make my first vest. Haven’t nailed down which vest pattern yet, will need to swatch and block first. Really beautiful WIP’s and I can’t wait to see them finished 😁 Maybe a steam block on your Ozetta cardigan would give you a better idea on fit, rather then a full wash at this point. You mentioned you like a roomy oversized fit, so a few extra rows of increases may not be a problem at all. Hope you figure it out and continue on with it for it is gorgeous! I alway use 72 stitches for men socks in fingering weight yarn 👍🏼 on a 2.25mm needle. Your new sock yarn looks amazing, I need to check them out. I can do tonal but not variegated 😊 Take care 💓
@neknits Жыл бұрын
Thank you! A steam block is a great idea - I haven't thought of that! And thanks for the tip on the socks! Others are also saying 72 stitches is good for their husbands' socks...so I will have to try that!

To figure out how many extra rows you need on the raglan, check your rows per inch. If you need 1 more inch, use that. 2 more inches double it. I agree you may wind up with a little different fit after blocking, though.

I just found you and love your shift scarf. I started one last year and not liking it due to all the lose ends. It doesn’t look like you have that issue and maybe I have done it wrong. As you change yarn colors, do you have a bunch of yarns ends to weave in once you are done?
@neknits Жыл бұрын
There were a decent amount of loose ends in my Shift but they don't occur at every other row. Moreso at the beginning/end of every section (there are 7 sections total). I saved all my ends to weave in at the end and it wasn't that bad!

Hallo! about the gray proyect, the one that you dont know if it will fit, why you dont block the part you already have done to check how the fabric will develop? i never do it myself but i heard a lot of people blocking part of the project to know if they have to do modifications before starting some parts.

Lovely video! I love vests, especially for autumn and spring. They are so versatile, warm, but not too warm, you can always throw it on for an extra layer. I really recommend you to try another one, that is more your style, if you'd like, I think you may enjoy it :))
