Nell sung this at the Oireachtas last year, didn't she? Definitely recognise the chorus line. Love it, but does anyone know the name of the tune? :)

Don't understand Irish, but the tune itself sounds very similar to "My Home" which is often played on the Pipes.

It’s the same melody

@@andrewosullivan5588 The tune 'My Home' which is a translation of a Scottish Gaelic song called 'Mo Dhachaigh' was written by a Malcolm MacFarlane, in the 19thC. He based it on an older Gaelic song about a wedding called 'Pòsadh peathar Iain Bhàin'..(Fair John's daughter's wedding). That it seems to be based on the newer variant of the tune as in' 'My home' shows it to be a more recent influence' 'more recent' being late 19th and 20thC. Unless of course there was already this variant in Eire before. The words of the songs alone and delivery possibly makes it 'appear' to imitate bagipes, [ref to note above 4yrs ago] but in fact there is no relationship apart from the fact that My Home is played on the pipes in a very measured manner - like they generally do to every Gaelic song played on that instrument.

Most Irish songs are more rounded than this. This sounds choppy like a Scottish song which immitate bagpipes. Another poster pointed out that this was also a Scottish pipe tune called my home. Id be interested to know why this one follows a Scottish pipe singing style instead of the more rounded even vocals of a typical Irish song.

Tunes and songs have gone both ways across the Irish Sea for ages. Another song that she sings (Mo dhá gobhair) is to the tune of Highland Laddie.
