This is me right now. I picked the game back up after a long break so I could try and beat it on DMD mode. Good fucking lord, finally realizing this game isn't just "Lock on like Dark Souls and go ham" has spared some of the pain my right pointer finger experiences, but the amount of claw grips I go back and forth on for style changes etc get to me after a little while. My tendons were on fire once I started to incorporate more swaps to Trickster but I'm here for it and we'll see how far we can get before the hands give out. A worthy sacrifice, I must say~

@@Jardonius Lowkey, that's kinda why I don't like playing Dante in DMC4 and 5. Style switching is fun but my GOD my wrists and fingers hurt. It's one of those mechanics I'm happy got added, but hate the fact that I'll more than likely will never be able to fully utilize it because I could injure my hand

I’ve watched your combos for years and watched some of the combo contest you have entered. I don’t think anything in the action game genre will have the accessibility and depth like DMC 5. I feel like I’ve been obsessed with this game forever. I remember playing DMC three mashing buttons getting through it and then a friend told me about jump canceling and it forever changed how I viewed the series. Thanks for putting so much time and effort into this video. Being almost 2 hours I’m sure editing and recording took a long time. I learned quite a few things from the video and I’m sure others have as well. Thank you again.

Also i want to add,for pc there is a mod called Dante keyboard toolkit which lets you swap to any weapon the fly,like if i am on balrog and king cerebrus is 3 slots away but i assigned the z key to cerebrus,i will just press and now i get cerebrus. It is a game changer for keyboard players as weapon switching becomes much faster

Nice voice bro LMAO. For buffering Cerberus, the one in the video will limit you to neutral charged attacks. But if you want to do direction charged attacks in conjunction with DSD summon swords, here's how you do it. You need to use a move with Cerberus switch to DSD for summon sword and switch back to Cerberus and hold the any key before the animation of Cerberus ends to keep the buffer of the Cerberus once the animation ends. The directional charged attacks will register then. But you'll need to very fast with weapon switching. For example 1. Using Poleplay after jump canceling Redline, holding melee, switching to DSD for summon sword launcher, switching back to Cerberus and letting go of melee with backward lock on direction. You can let go of the button before Poleplay's ender to cancel it. You can do this little combo string from the ground. 2. Using Rockback with while holding melee, switching to DSD summon sword launcher and crossing over, then switching back to Cerberus and letting go of melee with forward lock on direction to perform a Long Revolver at the descending target. You can pre hold melee to buffer quicker. You can do the same buffering tech to buffer sword master style charged moves, but you will have to hold the style button only after switching back to Cerberus, else it may trigger summon sword round trip instead. It is considerably harder to do than melee charged moves. It is only viable with using Poleplay from a decent height.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge of Dante! Also, maybe I missed it, but I think you didn't say about man in red glitch where, if you cancel it with SDT, 1 orb will appear forever. I remember Player BD using it in SSS-3.

Quick tips 1st fir control scheme i recommend switching L1 and R1 with L2 and R2 respectively (this helps with we0on switch apm) on 12.1 To get round trips consistently you must be in some sort of animation state(yes running works)hope it helps😊

Hope you can add siyan trainer settings and it's impact on Dantes toolkit in the future since a lot of players who have stuck with the game might be on pc ( especially sections like reversals and removals of JC cooldowns ) .... cheers for the guide 👍 🎉

You forgotten to mention that if you try using reverse redline during full throttle or wheel jump the direction that Dante is going will also change same goes for full throttle just take the finger of lock on and move the analog stick and you will go in any direction you want.

Curious to know if you have tried out the Dante weapon key binding toolkit that maps weapons to individual keys instead of having to scroll through weapons. It really makes Dante’s combat flow better imo

As I said. Very iffy on the AI voice stuff. That aside. Holy shit what a fantastic guide. I never knew Cavaliere's gear wheel stuff stayed if you swing with another weapon and then switch back to it without using any cancels. Buuuut not using any cancels is pretty boring so I guess that won't exactly be a game changer. I think it's funny that I kept waiting for a Man in the Red glitch to appear, only for you to at 1:43:20 bring up one I've never heard about before. In the interest of spreading knowledge, although that glitch is weird and crazy tight to pull off, there is a second, or well.. I suppose third glitch to Man in the Red, where if you cancel its activation with Quad S at a very specific point, an orb will spawn in place that will remain floating there and deal infinite hits. You can actually see Kyo, the mad lad, use that glitch within one of his combos in Empyreum kzbin.info/www/bejne/g32pdpilnseKeJom58s (7:58) Its application is of course limited because it's just so stupid tight, but it's seriously so cool imo.

Thanks for your comment! Yes, another person pointed it out the Man in the Red glitch you mention, but I choose to not include it because it is extremely inconsistent to pull it off and the orb may stay for pretty damn long.

Tbh i dont use balrog, coyote a, and daul kahl anns and i still get sss. Not because i have skill issue. Its because those weapons are slow for me to do combos always getting me s but when i removed those weapons i started getting sss

I always hate that they only kept Drive and Overdrive on DSD, it was such a weird way to really push people to use DSD over your old swords (aside from sword formation, but a lot of DSD’s depth most normal players won’t even notice) With that being said, would you say rebellion and sparda not having drive hurts the combo potential a lot? Or is it barely noticeable?

You won't be using Rebellion or Sparda in combos. The only use for them is Round Trip.

@ The other swords are definitely outclassed by DSD, as the summon swords make it arguably the best weapon in the game, but I guess what I’m asking is would Rebellion and Sparda having access to Drive (and potentially Overdrive) make them more viable as weapon options? I just hate how both of the older swords had access to Drive but they got removed for some reason.

@@classyhatty5847 No, it would be literally the same, since DSD already has Drive too. It was taken away because Devil Sword Dante needed to shine in this game.

@ Yeah I totally get that they wanted an emphasis on DSD above all, but to me having the summon swords PERIOD makes DSD stand out and perform way better as is (plus not needing swordmaster for aerial rave is always nice) I just felt that a niche move like drive shouldn’t have been taken away just for the sake of limiting a lower class sword. I feel like what they could have done instead (especially for repeat playthroughs + full irregular custom) was to keep round trip on Sparda as it’s back + circle move, but make it not able to use drive, and then have rebellion have both drive and overdrive as it’s back + circle move, but remove access to roundtrip. Having both swords still share dancing Macabre is fine I guess, but maybe have rebellion use DMC3’s dancing macabre where he spins holding the sword? I dunno, I guess at the end of the day it doesn’t matter, but it feels like a waste to have such a great arsenal of weapons have 3 different swords that perform the exact same, and it would just be neat to have each sword have a small advantage, but still ensuring that DSD remains the best of the three.

Its good guide. But aim mostly already advenced player can make stylish combo to give new combo idea. Its not really helpful for beginners imo. That guide require master to all moveset JC style weapon gun switching without messing.
