I want one so bad, Even if it is just the gun itself. I know i have no way of running it with only 10ish GPM (it would just make a puddle im sure). But i could put it on display and say hey, check out this big bad boy. I think at the minimum they need about 200 gpm to run properly (and to reverse) Not sure about the pressure maybe 80ish and up depending on the nozzle size selected. Since they use the stream and kinetic energy to reverse i assume anything less and it would probably not reverse properly or if at all, or it would probably just make puddles with the deflector in the way of the stream. I've never seen a P200 run in less than ideal conditions, so i dont know.

Yeah would be neat to have a P200 at least for display! They would need a lot of water for sure to run using a large city water source or a diesel irrigation pump and irrigation canal! Not sure either if it would reverse properly with less than ideal conditions. I have a Rain Bird SR3003 that I hope to be able to run one day!

Have you seen the older rainbirds that have 2 drive arms? one for forward and one for reverse? one strokes forward for normal operation and the trip mechanism switches to the other arm to stroke back for reverse. (slow reverse)

Well, never seen one of these in person. Was wondering is it self propelled or must it be moved manually? And that return swing! Wow. Have worked on center pivots with cannons on the end. Old farmer I worked for had one. Had a 5hp pump on the end with the cannon. 2 1/2" nozzle that shot well over 100'. I really hate working on center pivots! At least the 3 that he had.

there is a turbine driven hose reel that pulls the cart towards it, when it reaches the end, it shuts the water off. if you watch closely, you can see the cart move just slightly. And yeah they have such force in reverse, that if you stand too close to the gun itself it can hurt you (Ian told me that). And yeah working on pivots can be a chore. I work on computers for a living and am considering changing to irrigation, maybe residential and commercial to start, and then work up to agricultural. These can put out like over 200GPM so you need a very big pump to run these as they are intended. I wish i had one, and the pump to run it, but as you see i just have City water and about 8GPM so something like this would just laugh at me if i tried.

Ever wondered how these reverse once they reach the right stop? There is a deflector lever on top of the guns barrel. Once the gun reaches the right stop, there is a cam on the bottom of the barrel that glides along a path and it gets pushed up by this stop which pulls the reverse deflector down into the stream and once it gets pulled into the stream fully, it pushes the stream off to the right side therefore using the kinetic energy from the powerful stream to reverse the gun back to the left stop, tripping the cam and pulling the reverse lever back out of the stream and the drive arm takes over pushing it forward slowly. Also That is another reason to not stand too close during reverse as you will get absolutely soaked from the water that is being pushed to the side. These "fast reverse" guns are not being made anymore because the fast reverse made guns were problematic, each one of these fast reverse guns have a braking system that is supposed to alieve the stress of the kinetic energy when the gun is reversing, but most people don't even set it properly, as most i've seen just whip back around so fast. If you have that set properly the gun will reverse slower and the overhang of a pivot, or the cart that the gun is on will be saved from all that force that could eventually break it, or tip it over. A friend in a FB group told me once a P200 was working and reversed and snapped off the pipe that held it in place, the water fountain was like over 80 feet high shooting out of the pipe that the P200 was mounted on! Nowadays nelson makes the SR models of big gun that goes 1 speed in both directions, to me these are boring, as a kid i always loved seeing the fast reverse guns because I thought that they were so awesome with the force they had.

these big boys need a ton of pressure and GPM to function properly. I think they put out a minimum of 200 gpm up to 1000 depending on the nozzle size. I'm thinking also what needs so much is the reversing mechanism since it needs to push the stream to t he side using the kinetic energy to reverse the gun back to the left stop. Otherwise i assume it would just make puddles and not move very well if at all when it needed to reverse.
