THE. BEST. CHARACTER.EVER! Seriously for a while was pretty much the sole reason I bought 2000ad. The nine volumes (was it 9?) of Nemesis have got to be some of the most insane works of epic fiction ever written or drawn and that's not even hyperbole! The fact the strip was running a good seven years before the first warhammer 40k book was ever published pretty much tells you all you need to know!

Elliot Bradley I read the anthologies recently. I think the story started wearing a bit thin towards the end before coming back strong for the finale. The Gothic Empire was awesome, and I also remember the spider planet was pretty cool too.

My exposure to British culture (besides a lot of food staples such as black pudding and fish and chips) growing up in Newfoundland, Canada (I now live in Ontario) was very limited: mostly the only things British we had there was Coronation Street and Classic Doctor Who. However I managed to get a hold of a pirated copy (through a BBS) of the Nemesis the Warlock Commodore 64 game, as well as some other games that were very British and never released here in North America. Weird game, but fun. The music done by the genius that is Rob Hubbard was amazing.

I honestly love the fact that Torquearmada, according to Pat Mills, is based on the same priests that used to harass the hell out of him and Kevin O'Neill as school kids, which is also where they got some of their inspiration for Judge Dredd. Seriously though, I adored O'Neills artwork and Pat Mills managed to get you invested in all this crazy stuff and truly eldritch and weird art which is a hell of an impressive feat. Though I did lose interest for a while after O'Neill left the strip and I think it was Bryan Talbot who took over who was still pretty damn awesome but it didn't have that horror that I loved from O'Neills take

Cool character in a cool comic series with some cool art. 40K took inspirations from 2000 A.D. (or plagiarized...depends on your P.O.V.), but it's Nemesis The Warlock that was the main basis for 40K.

I discovered the whole 2000 AD universe over Judge dredd in my - I believe - 2010 or 2012 holidays with my in-laws. My wife and them went on to "see the region" (north of Denmark) and I - no interest in beeing enclosed with my in-laws in one car for so long - stayed at the house, put my bare ass in the sun and read and read, mostly Moebius etc in the beginning, late JD and - oh, what is that? Strontium Dogs?? Nemesis the Warlock?? I was blown away & I'm a fan of it since then. Especially because that's the kind of society we steer into when we stay in this retroactive kind of thinking, but nevermind - Nemesis is so cool, because he's not entirely "the good guy", I mean Torquemada is DEFINETELY the bad guy, there's not one good molecule in Torqy, but that Nemesis is primarely interested in Chaos, and helps people sometimes as a side effect is far more - let's say, realistic, than Spidey or some completely and mercilessly apocalyptic universes oozing with sarcasm. Na, 2000 AD stuff's fun. And you can see that the creators HAD fun imagining it. The "Complete case files" from Judge dredd are one of the best investments of my life. BTW we went as Angel Gang this year to Hallooween, I was Pa, and I have a friend that looks exactly like Fink Angel in natura LOL Yeah, we had to explain our "gang of Hobos" 100 times, at least. Next year I'm Johnny Alpha, still searching for a "Wulf", I don't know why, but my wife just refuses to grow a beard.... :) I wish Nemesis wasn't so hard a costume. Maybe I'll print a Torquemada helmet and make a sign "Be pure! Be vigilant! behave!"

Love Nemesis, the black hole story with ABC Warriors was amazing. Thing is like many 80s 2000AD stories, Nemesis was deep, lot of political views and how others are viewed and treated, deep stuff for young readers, none of that pc hand holding, some stuff was very adult.....amazing reads.

Easily my favorite thing to come from 2000AD. Kevin O'Neil's art was a revelation to me on this series, which I didn't discover until after reading League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. There's a lot of Elric of Melnibone in Nemesis (and in Deadlock) - Moorcock was very influential in the 70s and 80s, even to this day.
