I'm not a fan of growl screaming, but Chester's grittiness to his singing and shouting was always top notch. Mayu needed some grit to the verses, but I think she nailed the second chorus. She nailed the screaming on the bridge as well. She's easily one of the best vocalists of this era.

Hey Ryan, thanks for this! Brings back memories of 2020 and finding out about this band, exceptional musicians just jamming and having fun! Pure joy! Maybe I haven't been paying attention, but this is the only time I've seen Tamu scream like this 5:50! Maybe this song has a particular impact for her! And I caught one of VOB's live shows! Elegance, enthusiasm and power! I know you would have loved them live!

I haven’t listened to Linkin Park since Chester passed (RIP), but this is one of my favorites as is the whole Live At Milton Keynes album. Nemophila and especially Mayu for this song did an outstanding job. The range of styles that she commands is really impressive. ❤️🦊

Ryan, thanks for the reaction. I like Nemophila there always seem to be a sort of playfulness to their covers of other groups and they seem to enjoy playing together. Also, thanks for looking at Linkin Park’s video as a bases of comparison. Stay well sir.

Linkin Park was very popular in Japan about 20 years ago. I feel that the desire to create music that can compete with such cool overseas bands has been passed on to the younger generation.

Live Chester breaks that scream up into parts, taking breaths. Mayu covered it as it is in the studio, one continual scream.

Love it! Best cover band.. ever! They go the extra mile to pay homage to the original artists. She nailed the long note but Chester held it a bit better at the end. I love it as much as the original.

Chester's scream in the bridge was 17 seconds. I think Mayu matched it. Both versions are awesome, but yea, Chester's was a bit stronger. I'd listen to either version any day too.

Yeah Mayu's belting voice & screams aren't going to be as powerful as Chester's but i love the way Nemophila enjoy having fun tackling these covers, even with the phrasing difficulty in "Detroit Rock City" :)

Agreed. I'm not a fan of straight growl screaming, but I enjoy grit and rasp to singing and shouting (for instance, I like the Given Up's verses and chorus, but not into the bridge where it is full growl screaming) and Chester is one of the best ever. He's the GOAT of his genre and era. While Mayu didn't get there with this and needed more grit to the verses, I think she did great with the second chorus and the bridge. She is among the greatest vocalists today without question.
