WOW, this is probably the first time i have heard them do a song like this. Soulful, Emotional, Really makes you feel it in your heart! Mayu IS one of the best vocalist period. Her ability to shift and jump octaves flawlessly has made her very much loved! Excellent. These girls are always. Good Shred, you layout and production is starting to look pretty darn pro, with the big guys! Keep it up! 👍

Yeah they do have some slower songs but this one is quite different. It was pointed out to me before I posted the video but after I watched it, this was not written by NEMOPHILA. It was actually written for an anime outro and NEMOPHILA was selected to perform it. Pretty damn cool! Mayu is just incredible. Really all of the ladies in the band are :) Thank you! I am doing what I can to improve little by little.

I’ve always loved ballads, the yearning and restrained power is so moving when Nemophila do songs like this. Very Queen or Elton John sounding. And I just have to say the beauty of the song is matched by the beauty of the ladies themselves. A great way to end the year for sure. Happy New Year to you.

A couple things about this gem of a ballad I'd like to point out: First, it may be the best example* yet of just what an _artist_ Mayu is. You can't miss her phenomenal power and stage charisma, but her ability to interpret a lyric and bring out every ounce of emotion is just as big a part of what she brings. The other is just what a perfect job the rest of the band does. No one overplays in the least, but everyone contributes just what the song needs. The mark of skilled, confident musicians. It _is_ good timing, but the anime connection you mention is the actual reason for the timing, I suspect: this is to be a campaign song for an Oshiri Tantei movie release in a couple months. * Well..."Life," and lots more...but you get what I mean.

Agreed! I love how Mayus voice was really highlighted in this song. I always speak about how important an emotional impact is in songs, whether it be from the instruments or the vocals. Mayu always knocks it out of the park. Even Hazuki and Saki produce emotionally charged music with their guitars. Yes, I was unaware of the writing of the song for the anime at the time of filming the video. I did my best to completely block out all information of this song. It was not until I commented on the original video that one of my friends shared the information with me :)

I have the NHK app on my phone with alerts enabled. I started following the news around 11pm pst yesterday. Its unfortunate to hear about but this does appear to be a best case scenario for the magnitude of the earthquake. Earthquakes of that magnitude are VERY uncommon on that side of the country as there is no plate subduction zones there. In So Cal today we had another earthquake in the morning (Around 8:30am). A small shallow 4.1 just a few miles away from me. There was another one last week. We have seen an increase in earthquake activity here in So Cal.

@@Shreddawg I believe they could pull off a SRV cover maybe "Look at Little Sister" "Pride and Joy" or "Texas Flood." I could see them do a cover of Kenny Wayne Shepherd "Blue on Black." Maybe they could pull off a Carrie Underwood cover of "Before He Cheats" or "Black Cadillac." Mayu can play that attitude, I think. How about Miranda Lambert's "Kerosene" or Gunpowder and Lead"?

I've never heard a bad song from them. I love most everything they do, and why not, they're fantsasic musicians and they look so good as well. Whether it's original music, covers or production numbers written for them, they always bring the feels and goosebumps. I think I've listened to this song over a hundred times already, just to see if I don't get emotional, but that has not happened yet... and I seriously doubt it ever will. 🤘

Happy New Year, John! OK, John you wanted input about Ballads, here goes! I get a kick out of some of the comments on "Odyssey". "It's a Ballad from the 80's!" "It's a Ballad from the 90's!" Ballads have been around a lot longer, like 1100 AD. In 1967, Three Dog Night released "Easy to be Hard". It was written for the Musical, "Hair". It was absolutely devastating! As is: The Warning's "Choke" and Nemophila's "Game Over"! Ballads express every emotion. In ballads, the words are as important as the tone. Sad Ballads can have a glimmer of hope, such as: Nemophila's "Now I Here". Mayu wrote "Life" originally as a Ballad on piano. She wrote it to give herself encouragement after loosing 3 auditions. She redid it up tempo to welcome Tamu back to the band, and her daughter into the World. It has become Nemophila's Anthem! Have a Great New Year, John! And, Please review, "Now I Here"! Thanks! The song was a surprise, but then with Nemophila a surprise is no surprise, If you know what I mean. They are one of those bands that always make KZbin reactors go "I wasn't expecting that". Their sudden changes in direction and little experimental diversions are kind of what we're used to. I do love the song but It seems like only Mayu and (in a restrained way) Hazuki really got any work to do. The rest of the band could have sleepwalked it. A very nice song and an excellent recording, but I'll be happier if they don't adopt this 80s/90s power-ballad thing as their "home" style. They're too good for that.

Yeah NEMOPHILA is very talented, their talent makes them quite versatile with the music they created and perform.. I know what you mean, Hazuki did get to shine a bit but it was all Mayu for sure. Personally, I dont mind letting Mayus voice shine here and there. Based off the song structure, it is clear that NEMOPHILA did not write the song. I do however think they made the right choice in choosing NEMOPHILA to perform the song, they absolutely smashed it out of the park imo. I would always want a bit more Tamu and Saki!
