Knowing Hisoka as a person, he loves to fight strong opponents for pleasure. So what's the pure reason behind as to why he didn't fight Illumi; when Illumi oozed his bloodlust towards him? Given the fact that Hisoka only rated Illumi at 95, and assuming he's at 100? The reason is that he miscalculated Illumi. The 95 there was based on Gittarackur which allows Illumi to hid his true aura/real strength. Remember that Illumi is a manipulator. He probably manipulates his aura on his own accord. Illumi is a different type of manipulator compared to the likes of Shalnark. As you can tell that Shalnark's aura is lighter. Illumi's aura is more sinister because the malice in there is massive. Illumi is such a mysterious and weird guy, weird enough to not show his real powers even with the Zoldycks. "You see what I let you see, and think what I let you think"/"To envelope all things in light" --Hence, the name Illumi; an antithesis to Meruem's "Light that illuminates all light". Way back in Hunter Exam Arc, Hisoka threatens Illumi to not touch Gon; because Gon was Hisoka's prey. Illumi obeys, of course, he wasn't paid to assassinate Gon. And not to mention that Gon broke Illumi's arm and his reaction was "yep, it's broken" nonchalantly -- such a weird guy and 'dead' inside & outside. In YorkNew Arc, Hisoka needs help from Illumi just to sneak-out Ryodan's hideout and fight Lucilfer. Illumi will just lend a hand, if Hisoka has to pay him. Hisoka, of course, paid Illumi just to fullfill his ultimate dream with Lucilfer. Then here's the 13th Chairman Election Arc, where Hisoka has no idea what the Chimera Ants are and Illumi suspected it(meaning, information-wise, Illumi owns it). He told Hisoka about Gon's condition(Illumi knows well what weaknesses Hisoka has in) and wanted to get 'rid' of Alluka. Hisoka helps Illumi on his mission without any form of payment because you know, Hisoka is Hisoka; a transmuter who trolls, a whimsical liar, and just wanted to have some fun. In that case, Illumi low-key manipulates Hisoka because he really knows what weaknesses Hisoka has in, and that is to enjoy; because Hisoka was bored at the moment. And during the mission, Hisoka is just 'toying' with Illumi (Hisoka wanted to send the map on Illumi) and failed. But unfortunately, Illumi just wanted Hisoka to see what Illumi wanted to see for him (when Illumi sees Nanika's power, he wanted to control that power; exact opposite on what he's telling to Hisoka, which is to 'rid' Nanika). In science, animals instinctively knows ahead if there are tragedies to happen (e.g. earthquakes, hurricane, and the like). Black Vultures are scavengers, and Black Crows are bad omen--associated with death. The fact that these creatures were triggered by Illumi's bloodlust (which is about to kill the target/prey), means that 'that' target is about to die. Hisoka, of course, one of the smartest characters in HxH, refused to die by the hands of a professional assassin; because he wants first to 'taste' the wrath of Lucilfer. Sooner rather than later, we'll get to see a battle between Pennywise and Pinhead/Sadako.

For an example, paper can cause a papercut and if you fill paper with enhancement energy it will become hard and very sharp. Lets take that example again except its with a manipulator who isn't cliche, he could take the paper, make it fold into a paper crane and let it fly around, or if he's a sadist, ball it up and make it into a grenade

This video made me wonder if Illumi ever used himnotic spell on himself. If togashi ever wanted to make illumi a more "good" or tragic character later on it could be revealed he used a needle to make himself have the perfect mentality for an assasin, make him completely unempathetic to those who aren't related to him etc. and he made that sacrifice to shut down his emotions for the sake of the family. Just a thought. Also would that mean Illumi and by extention Killua while under his spell is completely immune to other manipulaters trying to control them?Would be a good thing to put on the butlers in that case though their loyalty is seemly natural and can be betrayed in little ways like wishing for money so maybe he hasn't done so on them.

But he wnted to be the psycho his family wanted because he loved them, so he basically pulled a trigger and forced himself to do the most unnatural thing he could. It's tragic, but also not, because he's ruining himself for the love of his family, but also making himself a bad person with full awareness of what he's about to do. Amazing. Are you Togashi's son?

@Depressed Guy Actually fire Bendig would weirdly enough be closer to Conjuration than Transmutation. Transmuters use their aura to mimic the properties of something, while Conjurers can make that thing real. There's even an example of Fire Conjuration within Hunter x Hunter with Basho.

Well Firebenders are emitters + transmuters with fire and lightning. Airbenders are manipulators. Earthbenders are manipulators for sure along with metalbending and lavabending can be transmutation. Waterbenders are manipulators due to bloodbending, conjurers(or maybe transmuters) when they draw water from the air and transmuters by freezing water.

Lots of people seem to have a habit of just tacking on specialist to nen users that seem uber strong/unique/enigmatic. All feats of Ging so far would seem to place him on the top three categories on the hexagon diagram; Making nen warts? Transmutation. Nen blasts thru walls and teleporting punches? Emission. Wait he can do both Emission and Transmutation? Enhancer not out of the question (plus his son is enhancer, so likelihood is there). Manipulator also seems like a possibility (radio example; albeit is also and more so emission; controlling radio is easy vs aura persisting for years across vast distances) No feats for conjuration yet (maybe Greed Island, who knows?) All his feats so far are within the classified nen types. Just cause he can do a lot does not automatically make him specialist. If he has high mastery over emission, that lessens the chances that he is a specialist. We'll just have to wait and see. My call is he is an enhancer- single minded and dedicated. Very emotionally driven. Left his son to follow his dream. Adamant, hard-headed- but has matured with age and experience. Very unreasonable and extremely selfish. Checks enhancer boxes for me.

It just so happens his absurd natural skill allows him to pick up nen concepts to a degree that makes him so formidable considering he was able to take Leorio's technique, learn it by simply being hit by it, and repilicate it for his own use which is made all the easier because he's an emitter as well

@@slevinchannel7589 you need to be sufficiently stronger than a nen user to control them and in illumi’s case it just wouldn’t help or matter that much. Even if he isn’t controlling you he’s strong enough as a combatant to kill you and his needles make good weapons on their own. He literally has no use for them outside of intelligence or setting traps. Plus the longer they are under control the longer you’re putting nen into them and they begin to deteriorate over time.

If I was a Manipulator would like to manipulate pain, increasing it, transferring, or minimizing it on a target. The pain manipulation's activation would be caused by an emitted Nen needle magnetically shot into one's Nervous System.

Using this ability I can summon stuff or get an additional ability based on a particular meme I am thinking of also I should be able to think of what it does too. Such as if I think about the " Big brain" meme it increases my intelligence for some amount of time. While if I think about the coffin dance meme it summons 2-4 skeletons (the number of skeletons summoned depends on luck) to protect me. The main conditions to use this abilities are: 1) I have to have a good idea of the meme. 2) I have to come up with the ability based on the meme before using it and once I use the ability for a particular meme it gets locked and can't be changed later(ie if I use skeletons for coffin dance meme I can't summon a coffin to trap people using the same meme later) 3) depending on how strong the ability is the cool down can last between days to even a month or more. 4) if I use a meme belonging to a particular category then I have to wait 30 mins to use another meme from other category. (Such as if I use a meme belonging to gaming I can't use a scientific meme or anime memes until 30 mins later. 5) I also can't spam multiple memes at once and can only use 2 abilities at once. (There can be exceptions depending on if the ability utilised is offensive, defensive or support)

I just have one question, if Morel's smoke it's really just his aura transmuted and not real smoke like you say..... then why do he needs a giant pipe to make it? Why not just make his aura into smoke-like supstance directly? The only justification i see to be likely true it's that.... because transmutation is the category he has least control of, he needs that giant pipe as a condition to transform his aura into smoke more easily.

As someone who has only seen the anime, I feel like the whole thing that happened with the cassette tapes is probably manipulation. I don’t see how any other aura type can force a cassette player to override a cassette tape. but in order to get the full effect, the nen would have to be imbued into the cassette tape, which feels like it could be projection, manipulation, or enhancement, depending upon your perspective. So my speculation is that manipulation is also responsible for “enchantments” of sorts.

I assume diffusive induction is a slow acting form of coercion that can spread to others passively. Essentially I believe it requires less effort in exchange for a slower process while also granting an overreaching effect on others who the Nen user did not specifically need to invoke Hatsu on but as an area of effect slow coercion spreading to others.

It's called "In Utero" and allows me to implant commands into people before birth. Upon turning 18, the command takes over. Knuckle doesn't use Manipulation for Hakoware. APR and IRS act on their own until their functions are completed, or until Knuckle willingly deactivates them or gets knocked out. You could use the argument that the one month Zetsu of IRS is an application of Manipulation, but considering Chain Jail's Zetsu wasn't Manipulation I doubt IRS uses it. Also Zakuro's Bloody Mary has two Restrictions. They need to have an open wound, and they need to carry around an IV.

I like the idea of giving someone a gift and then obliging them to do something in return: you have the condition of having to find a physical object that the target would accept then touching it yourself to put your aura into it. For a few hours they would have a higher opinion of you and you can choose to ask them for a favour - the longer you wait, the higher their opinion becomes and the more likely they are to do something complex so you can make people do crazy things the more you wait so its not overpowered

If I were a Nen user, I'd use manipulation to essentially gain magnetic powers. I would use emission to strike objects with Nen and magnetize things struck with my aura. Think like the Sun and the Moon but it pulls the two marks together or pushes them apart instead of exploding them.

Came back to this video after becoming bored and doing a series of online nen type quizzes, kept getting manipulator so came here for ideas on techniques. So here’s mine Nen concept: 20th dimension magic! Nen type: manipulator Essentially by infusing someone’s nen into a 20 sided dice, I can control them. The conditions are that whenever I ask them to do something, I must roll this dice depending on how high or low I roll, the target with either succeed, fail, or in the case of a 20 or 1, critical succeed or critical fail.

I have a different theory about Morel. He doesn't use transmutation to create smoke but rather a conjuration. He uses a pipe which creates smoke naturaly, inhales it and creates much greater volume through conjuration. Imo that would be closer to his nen alligment as conjuration is right next to manipulation .

If I were a nen user, I would definitely be a manipulator, because I wanna protect my family and friends, I’m very logical and sometimes very cold. And I guess I do stuff at my own pace. My nen ability would be to control people (even corpses) using marionette strings. (as long as they have all four limbs and a head.) I’ll call it Puppet Reign (AKA: The Monarch’s Marionettes.) The condition that had to be meet in order for me to control my “puppets” is to stick pins into my opponents’ wrists, legs, and the back of their necks. I’ll have total control over my puppets’ so I can get them to fight even their allies or get sure-fire information out of them.

question: if manipulators can manipulate physical items and abstract ideas, where is the line drawn? you can obviously manipulate humans, animals, and items... but can you manipulate your environment like trees, the ground, ect? on that note, can you manipulate abstract things like shadows (similar to the Nara clan in Naruto) or gravity? what's stopping you from increasing or decreasing gravity in a designated area or conjuring a room and manipulating the orientation of the room (similar to Nakime in demon slayer). Manipulation has so much untapped market for crazy practices.

Like it will only spare the first person it sees, summon it with its eyes pointed at you.
