We can only learn better and do better by Grace dear fellow. I too learn with you from Ps Andy about a better understanding of my Bible. May God keep him.

I first learned about the fallacies of Tulip in our Sunday school class when they presented "Total Depravity" as truth. I came to Christ as a child. I was convicted by the Holy Spirit of my sin after hearing the story of Adam and Eve. I wanted Jesus to come into my heart and cleanse me from my sin. I definitely made a choice to believe. Total depravity just doesn't compute with my experience. When I began looking into TULIP, there were red flags everywhere.

Yes. Logically valid is not necessarily true

I have a question maybe someone can answer. I am not a Calvinist anymore. I am looking for a study Bible for my grandson who is 15 and is going to Christian school. I have MacArthur study Bible, but cross out a lot of his commentary now that I am not Calvinist. My grandson needs a study Bible and I want to get him one. You have quoted Charles Ryrie a few times in the teaching about Calvinism, but I have read that he is a Calvinist and believes a lot of the Calvinism teaching. Am I wrong with this? If so, can you lead me to a good study Bible for my grandson? Everything you are teaching is everything I have been praying for getting out of a Calvinist church. 🎶Praise the Lord from whom all blessings flow. 🎶

This is such a good question dear fellow. I was also looking for a reliable study Bible. On recommendation of Dr Arnold Fruchtenbaum (whom Ps Andy regularly refers to) we got the Charles Ryrie study Bible, but he said it must be the NASB 1995 version. We came out of the New Apostolic Reformation Movement. We enjoy and find value in C Ryrie S Bible. It is as you say, there has been points where we debated the Ryrie commentary which appeared to slant to a Calvinistic point of view, occassionally, but not aggresively. I am also reminded that all S Bibles have man's commentary and we evaluate it from that perspective. The problem passages we pick up, we seek commentary such as Ps Andy's and we trash it out with further Bible Study. That has been our experience with the Ryrie S Bible to date. We are in Deut, having started from Genesis. I will not label it from lamens perspective having only studied said few books, that it is a Calvinistic S Bible. What we also enjoy about this classic S Bible (the other classic is the Scofield, which must also be researched) is that they offer short notes. They do not attempt to defend their position with long personal statements to promote and protect their personal theological agenda as one would find in I.e. the John MaCarthur Study Bible, according to me. I trust you will find your Study Bible best suited for your study.

Thank you! This is such good information. Lots to look into. More than I thought there would be. I also like that, Sugarland teaches about the importance of Israel and “the latter days”. I rarely if at all hear anything about Israel at my church. Or, living in the latter days. In fact when I say “the Lord is coming so very soon” the reply is maybe…“ with no excitement at all. I get excited and can’t help it. It is all around us. Soon… Praise God.

I’m not a smart man by any stretch of the imagination, but when I first learned about Calvinism & TULIP and like: NOPE !! This does not line up with scripture at all. Like Dr. Woods said in the sermon “if you criticize Calvinism online then they come after you saying: “you just don’t understand Calvinism, you’re not intelligent enough to understand it, you have to sit under our teachings for awhile before you can understand it”. Idk about you but that sounds like a cult.
