I think the fact that it is able to fly manual, is incredible. I don’t think it was really designed for that market. Most people that buy it, will just use it as a little selfie drone. It’s pretty good at that. Perhaps they will do an upgrade, to make it more focused at being a little more sporty, for FPV flyers.

Yeah - it is not a great FPV freestyle quad. But it's definitely good enough to have fun and learn on. I was really surprised to learn that it could do manual/acro, but that's what makes it a cool little drone. Come for the selfies. Stay for the acro!

I think it is fine just like it is. If they try and make a "real" micro fpv out of it they will have to double the price and lose the plastic. There's already a glut of drones like that on the market.

I love my avata 2 but since I got my Neo I have not flown my avata 2.. This little Neo is simply a masterpiece of engineering and I just Love flying it in every single way it can be flown perfect fpv trainer with goggles 3 Fpv rc3 👍

I’ve been flying it more than than my Avata 2, as well, but I think it’s just because it’s new. When you fly far away and the Mbps drops, then return to home does the Mbps go back to 50Mbps? Mines doesn’t unless I change the channel setting to manual and adjust the channels and switch between 2.4/5.8.

I love this little Neo guy for flying near people. I'm yet to try manual mode, though I fly acro mode tinywhoops and cinewhoops close to people and indoors. A good companion for when the Avata is just too big!

I've found with small fpv drones, it's best to take off with a little forward stick. I love it because it does everything, perfect carry along drone on a trip or to put in the car at a moments notice. Honestly because I bought everything separately, I've got about as much in it as an Avata 2 combo, but I love the size and the fact that it's not so much money up in the air or potentially hitting the ground to have to replace. Only problem is, with the current attack on DJI by our government, there may not be replacements available at some point. I have three Care Refresh replacements left in the next two years if necessary though.

I'm enjoying my Neo and trying to learn to fly it in manual mode although I'm having some issues as I have the shakes and makes it a bit rough to control. Hopefully I'll get it sorted out. Practicing a lot in Liftoff and that's getting better. Love flying it through small gaps with the motion controller though. Used it last week flying low amongst some golfers on the practice green and everyone thought that was neat.

I own a M4P and the Avata2 and still keep flying the tiny Neo mire than the other two. It is great for spotting out a new location before taking the avata2 to film some nice shots :D

I thought I was losing it with it not going into manual mode 😂. I’d go from the avata 2 to Neo and was like hmmm I guess every time u switch it changes the settings sometimes. *Your crash is why I sent mine back and got rid of it. IF u get impact detected and hit the pause/emergency button to recover…twice I had it do whatever it wanted 😂😂. Once was legit full speed straight into my brick house. 2nd time, insane nose dive full speed into my basketball court from maybe 30ft up. Smashed itself lol. I have that video still, thought about posting, but mehhh I’m over this drone. Sent back spent money on Ikon3. Love the content and the points u made! 😎

You can set the goggles to auto record on take off (in the camera settings) or use the joy stick on the goggles and move it back to reveal the top menu. From there you can choose the record option by pressing in. Or you can hit the record button on the RC.

I’ve been filming wakeboarding for 8+ years with Phantoms and have dabbled a little bit in FPV with the Emax tiny hawk, but I’d love to have something that I can confidently get FPV style shots of wakeboarding with… maybe even slap an old school GoPro float on it just in case 🤔

The NEO is great to start with, to practice cinewhoop flying, but if you want a really nice one, go for the Avata 2.

Thanks for watching. On the DJI Avata 2, we needed to adjust the gain for the roll, but with the NEO, I don't think we changed any of those settings. If you try to push it (which you saw us do before the nose dive), you might feel the need to make personal adjustments, but for beginners (and for us), the NEO is mostly just a nice cruiser, so you should be good to go with the default settings.

We accidentally tried to bind the NEO with the FPV controller 2 (when we grabbed the wrong one while heading out the door), and learned the hard way that the NEO is only compatible with the Goggles 3, Goggles N3, Motion 3, and FPV controller 3 (in terms of FPV flying).

You'll need either the Motion 3 or the FPV controller 3 to fly with goggles, but manual mode only works with the FPV controller 3.

Hey Kelly - Can you not switch to manual while in flight as with Avata? I think a total rookie -asking for "a friend" 😂 might find ot easier to brake and switch in the air than trying to take off in Manual Mode.

Hi John. Yes, it's exactly like the Avata. You can switch it to manual mode in the air, and you make a good point that it might be good for a beginner to switch mid air, as long and they are high enough to flip back to a stabilized mode if they need to. For us, we find it "fiddly" to do it when we're 6 feet or so, off the ground (which is generally how we fly the NEO) wanting to weave through trees, so it's just simpler to take off and go, right from the start.

Yes, we actually are using the same controller as the Avata 2, so we already did that and forgot to show that process in this NEO video. We didn't change any rates, but as you probably saw in our video, we had a strange nose dive as well.

Normal Mode hovers on its own and is easy to fly. Sport Mode is the same as normal mode, but it's faster. Manual Mode cannot hover on its own, but it gives you more freedom to fly.

Yes, that wheel works in manual mode. I've adjusted it mid flight in manual mode.

No, it doesn't matter. However, when flying in normal and sport modes, it's helpful to have the throttle spring loaded whenever you want it to hover or maintain altitude without your input. And of course, manual mode flying is easier when the throttle stick is loose. (We went over this in our Avata 2 manual mode video, but didn't cover it in this NEO video.)

Only thing that bugs me about DJI, is they don't make other controllers and goggles backward compatible. I have an Avata and the equipment doesn't work with Neo or Avata2, and when NEO2 launches I can almost guarantee that it will need a new model of controller and goggle.

Manual mode only works with the FPV controller 3. I have not looked into simulators for the RC N2, so I'm unsure if there are any that work.

Have you ever flown with the original Air Units? I'd say the NEO, even at 1080p, although definitely not good quality footage, is still better -- and the price is pretty comparable, yet the NEO is the complete package, whereas the Air Unit / Vista Unit was just the camera and vtx.

Hi Glen. Make sure you are in manual mode and your left stick is all the way down, otherwise it won't arm. That's the only thing that comes to mind assuming it will arm when it's in normal or sport mode by moving the sticks down and in.

Hmm. Are you able to take off in normal mode and then flip the switch to manual mode while you're flying? Then align the sticks to switch into manual mode. I don't have experience with this issue, but I'm just curious if you're able to get manual mode to work with that process.
