Just flew my Neo in FPV mode an hour ago, I was pretty disappointed swapping from my Avata 2 to the Neo, it kept losing control and crashed when I tried to turn/bank. Im assuming its because today was kind of windy. I did manage to fly it right into my face at full speed and my jaw is barely sore, so it passes the “will it hurt a person” test haha.
@dronewilder5234Ай бұрын
@@MainelyElectrons haha nice to see some of my impact tests verified some more. Yes it definitely struggles in wind and needs to be flown like an underpowered drone. A higher camera tilt angle helps 30+ deg as this will naturally force more power into turns - try that if you haven’t already! As you could probably tell I struggled a few times too though so it’s definitely a drone that doesn’t make it easy in strong winds
@MainelyElectronsАй бұрын
@@dronewilder5234 Hahaha I totally wasnt expecting it, and will be posting the footage eventually. I will definitely try that! Part of the issue could have been that the firmware update for the controller failed and I didnt notice. So the controller was running a version pre-neo support. Another issue that I ran into is the camera gimbal was being super weird, it seems like it was tilting up and down, similar to how the motion controller works.
@dronewilder5234Ай бұрын
@@MainelyElectrons you’re right I noticed that too. The gimbal hunts the drone movement a bit rather than being completely fixed in place in manual mode. Bit weird - maybe a small amount of mechanical image stabilisation added to make it more flyable due to its small size and relatively weak tune.

@@BhupenderSingh-mm2rk I will see about looking into this. @@dronewilder5234 actually I am in dilemma right now, I can't afford expensive good quality drone but I want drone to learn fly and also I don't want to break it doing so and neo turns out to be quite sturdy as per your last video and I can afford this even though it's around USD 525 (fly more combo) in my country without warranty and any support, so you estimate how much other good DJI drone will cost, without warranty. @PhilTParkerАй бұрын
@@dronewilder5234 Yes, I have seen comments that the RC3 which I have can control the NEO. What is interesting is that the NEO was considered by DJI upon launch that it is part of the “FPV family tree” of their product lines. When I had submitted my order previously through Amazon (and it should ship on 10/8 and arrive on 10/10) I had been under the impression that the Neo was intended to be a small, basic drone capable of being many things. I own the HoverAir X1 and love it. But the Neo, I thought, could take things to the point where it would do what my HoverAir would, and instead add 4k, allow itself to be controlled by my RC3, and also with my Goggles and Flight Stick, both the latest units available to control the Avata 2. It is turning out that the Neo indeed may be coming a “jack of all trades” as a DJI drone. The smallest, most flexible, and inexpensive drone yet by them. And for me, since I had all of the other hardware, of course I had to give it a go and purchase it. I look forward to this new chapter in my happy drone exploits. Hello, NEO!

@@dronewilder5234 I've been flying FPV for 8 years, and now that I'm in Bali, I got myself the DJI Neo FPV combo. As a freestyler, I was really looking forward to having more freedom to do tricks and fly the way I'm used to. But now I've realized that I can't even do a forward flip. I have a feeling this might be a limitation of the Goggles N3, as they seem to be geared toward entry-level users. I've been super curious about this and have been searching KZbin constantly to see if anyone else has mentioned it, but I haven't found anything so far. Please let me know if you find something.

As much as I would like to purchase a Neo, for several reasons, I will not make that purchase unless dji makes it compatible with the 2 equipment or the RC 1. I use my avata 2 with my 2 equipment and it works great. Can’t see spending all that money just to fly a Neo.
@dronewilder5234Ай бұрын
@@RayRay-zc2ed I totally get that sentiment - fingers crossed they will make it more cross compatible. Ironically the Neo only transmits at 50mbps which is the data rate we had with the remote 2’s O3 system.

I agree totally
@BlairAirАй бұрын
They may add FPV Controller 2/Goggles Integra - as Avata 2 did, but no RC-N1 I'm afraid. O4 requires minimum 4 in non-standard pairing and 6 in standard. Here's u Hoping you get that compatibility. I have the "3" Goggles, Motion and FPV Controller 3, so I'm getting it to learn on, since we know it will take a good beating and keep on keeping on.

Excellent review of this little drone.
@ricarmigАй бұрын
@@dronewilder5234I imagine they use recent hardware and reused what’s available now, so O4 is the way to go. Instead of developing a new hardware, they may be using what they have in stock. Though technically it is a little bit weaker, in imagine you save battery. If it used O4’s full potential, you’d have 5 minutes fly time… I think they could use a 720p low bitrate mode to save battery.

Fpv option...$600 for a $200 drone...why not make it backwards compatible with the version 2 systems, much cheaper and more people already have them.
@dronewilder5234Ай бұрын
@@mssippijim absolutely agree. Considering the avata 2 o4 system was made to be compatible with the version 2 O3 system, we can stay optimistic and hope dji allow backward compatibility of the Neo eventually too.

Man… I got nervous when you were flying that full tilt between yourself and the camera man… Then I did the maths obviously with AI because it’s 2024. Turns out it would be about as bad as getting hit by a cricket ball thrown by a fit 10 year old… not too bad.

Not interested. Why didn’t they just build all the follow features and programs into the Avata 2 ?? Seems everyone wants to fly the Neo as an Avata anyway. Sorry. To me it just looks like a money grab from DJI.
@dronewilder5234Ай бұрын
@@djwak59 fair point. I’m completely unaffiliated from Dji and I buy every drone I do videos on with my own money. What I would say then is that the purpose of the Neo is most likely: 1 - lightweight and unintimidating due to its size 2 - affordable for first timers 3 - a direct response to the direction hoverair are going. You’re right in asking why dji didn’t just make these features available on the avata drones but this would negate points 1 and 2. Would be nice if they add these features to the avatas regardless though
